I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to eat and was already inside the convention center, so I decided to give this place a try. From the start, the young lady at the counter was extremely nice, polite, and welcoming. She explained that they originally had a different location—a true brick-and-mortar restaurant—but later transitioned to operating inside the convention center. Honestly, I think that was a great move given how many people pass through this area regularly.
The value was very good for what I ordered. I went with the whiting fish, chicken wings, fried okra, and macaroni and cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The macaroni and cheese was so fresh that it came out while I was still placing my order, and I ended up adding it as an extra side on the spot.
There is plenty of seating since it’s located within the food area of the convention center, and it’s conveniently close to the convention halls, so there’s no long walk involved. The restaurant itself was clean, organized, and well maintained, which made the experience even better.
If you’re already inside the convention center or nearby and looking for something hot, fresh, and satisfying, I definitely recommend stopping here. The food was ready quickly, tasted excellent, and the service made it a pleasant experience overall.

The lady at the counter was polite and friendly and the food ranges from decent to very good – I particularly liked the fried shrimp with their light, crispy, and well seasoned coating. The chicken wings were decent, but, not particularly crispy after being drenched in “Buffalo Sauce”.
The Mac & Cheese was satisfying but the portion was rather small. The French Fries were also decent, but, nothing special – just the basic “crinkle cut” fries that you get frozen in a bag. I’d say that’s one area where they could improve – maybe make their own cut “twice fried” fries for extra crunch,
Two of the guys in my party ordered the Banana Pudding and said it was very good (it was kind of funny how fast they ate it (hi Bart! ).
I don’t eat much catfish myself, but, if you do, this seemed like a place that would make it well.

JD’s Kitchen made me so happy! The food was so delicious. I had the perch chicken combo with okra, baked beans with Mac & cheese. My son had chicken tenders w/ Mac cheese. Hubby had a pork chop, fries and baked beans. When our food came out together, everything was hot and fresh! I was so impressed with the staff and service at this restaurant.

Saw this little hole in the wall while walking home with some stuff. Ordered a chicken tender meal and a banana pudding to go. Food was decent, the fries were slightly soggy. The banana pudding was ok.

Definitely a hidden gem! I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty it was. I found them as I was looking on Google for something close by to eat I got the two piece catfish dinner with fries and baked beans to go and although I was only 7 minutes away everything was fresh and hot by the time I sat down to eat. Definitely a 10/10 I thought I was gonna be able to save some for later…nah I killed all that lol give them a try you won’t be disappointed!! Everything is also made to order so plan to wait for it to be prepared

Definitely your mom n pop place nothing fancy but the food was amazing! I got the jumbo shrimp platter and my husband got the whiting. Seasoned perfectly! You can tell they take pride in their food. Definitely recommend this place

In town for a weekend getaway and decided to try something new, had a taste for soul food and this was near the hotel and airport. The place was empty and the floor was sticky… should have been first clue, but I gave it a chance anyway.
The macaroni and cheese is several days old, like hockey puck u can lift the entire portion with the fork. AND ITS MOLDY ON THE BOTTOM (SEE PIC). Baked beans also made a while ago. Greens were gritty. Chicken and fish lack seasoning. Very disappointing experience. We will not be back in the future.

I have been twice now. The food is absolutely fantastic. I can highly recommend the catfish, fried okra, and the greens! I’m looking forward to trying all of their other offerings.

This place should be packed every night! Real southern fried catfish? In Columbus? Take it from an Arkansas native, that fish is totally legit! So delicious. And the mac & cheese might be the best we’ve ever had in a restaurant. It’s baked, not swimming in soupy fake cheese and the flavor is awesome. My non-fish-eating wife liked the chicken fingers just fine. The counter-service staff was friendly. The place just needs more people so I hope this review gets y’all over here!
