The entrees were clearly marked V for vegan and VG for vegetarian. Their menu descriptions also took the guesswork out of determining what proteins were used. e.g. Soy Chicken, Curry Tofu, Jerk Seitan. This also helped me pick, as I am trying to avoid gluten.
I was informed that all of the vegetable sides, except for anything with cheese, are vegan.
SPICY JERKED SOY CHIKN (vegan) –
I ordered a large plate so I could have leftovers. Both the small and large plates come with two sides, but the portion is bigger with the large. That being said, the portion was huge! The Jerk Soy Chikn was good (not spicy).
I paid for an extra side so I got rice and peas, greens, and cabbage. The rice and peas tastes like it’s made with coconut milk. It was some of the best rice and peas I’ve ever had in the USA. The greens and cabbage were very good as well, but the rice and peas were top tier. I went back and got 4 additional sides of it before leaving Nashville.
VEGGIE FRIED CHIKN (vegan) –
Made with soy. Coated in a seasoned batter and served with mango chutney. Delicious! I loved that chutney!
I got a side of greens beans too. They were just ok.
I tried the Pineapple Ginger juice. It was good and the ginger was strong. But Riddim n Spice’s has better overall taste and both the pineapple and ginger taste fresher there.
When I told them I was traveling 4 1/2 hours they were nice enough to package my food in travel friendly containers.
I’d love to try more of their vegan options, so I’ll be sure to run it back the next time I’m in Nashville.
The menu has a lot of small dish and appetizer items. The has chicken, meat/fish and vegetarian options that also comes with 2 sides. There are about 13 different sides available to pick from. Entrees come in 2 sizes, lunch and dinner, the latter being more pricey. Meat/fish entrees are much higher price but rest of the menu has reasonable price.
We ordered the oxtails with beans and curry goat with mac n cheese. It took them about 7-8 minutes to have the order ready. Oxtail was so delicious, the flavor and seasoning all came together so well. I didn’t like the goat curry as much. The meat seemed like lamb. Also the curry smell/flavor was too strong. But all the side dishes were good. Overall it is a decent place to try out some Caribbean food.
I got oxtails and veggies. It’s a big portion and fulfilling. The oxtails were flavorful and tender. Easily pulled apart. Veggie was ok. There are many other proteins and side to choose.
The line moves quick. There are many tables/seats in the food court. Overall a good place for Jamaica food.
we got oxtail and chicken platters. the sauce and rice combo was very tasty. collard greens were nicely seasoned. this is inside the farmers market.
