I have been here many times but this restaurant seems to have hit its apex and is on its way down. Hopefully the owners realize this and straighten things up. For starters the chips are not fresh but rather store bought, dry and break a tooth hard, it doesn’t help the red salsa had a hair in it. Make your kitchen staff use hair nets gross! I had a California burrito with steak. There was no flavor, I thought I was catching COViD for a minute, the steak pieces were so small they didn’t even count as a portion. My wife got the chimichanga, it was okay but not much to say about it. The two kids got a refill on there lemonade and who knew we would get charged, the waitress did not let us know, $16 for two powder lemonades, are we at the circus, I guess so. The wait staff was more attentive to there work friends and the corresponding social time than their customers. If another Mexican restaurant comes to town this place is in trouble. Even Chipotle has better food than these guys now.

It’s been a while since we have been to Jalapenos, probably a year. My husband loves their hot salsa and I like the mild. Not sure if they changed up their chips but while they are still good they were thicker and harder than usual. We both ordered the steak fajitas and they just didn’t have much favor to them. Hoping it was just an off night. Husband enjoyed his margarita and said it was strong.

I am beyond frustrated with my experience here. I ordered a burrito specifically because the menu clearly states that the rice and beans are served on the side. That’s how it was made the last time I ordered it, so naturally I expected the same thing.
Instead, it showed up stuffed full of rice and beans, exactly what I was trying to avoid. When I politely pointed out the issue, the waiter shrugged and told me “the owner decided to put them inside now” and that they’ve “been having issues.” If you know you’re having issues, update your menu or fix the problem—don’t leave customers guessing.
To make it worse, the waiter flat-out refused to have it remade because “that’s how they make it now.” Absolutely unacceptable. If the restaurant is going to change how they make a dish, then change the description on the menu. Don’t make the customer feel like they’re the problem for expecting what they were told.
I walked out disappointed, annoyed, and honestly shocked by the lack of basic customer service.
Fix your menu, fix your communication, and stop blaming customers for your own errors. I won’t be coming back.

This used to be one of the best mexican restaurants around. We would drive 30 miles to come eat. Not sure what has happened but service and attitude have crashed hard.

Waited an hour to receive cold food. Missing parts of the meal, had to ask several times to get something brought to table. Everyone took one of bite of cold food and didn’t want to eat. Asked for a manager and was told to hold on….only to be told oh sorry there. Is no manager here. I said I don’t really feel comfortable paying for this at this point of being in the restaurant for an hour and a half. I was told once again to hold on. After 10 minutes I asked the waitress if I am waiting for someone or should I just leave? She said oh would you like me to bring the bill or what do you want. I was brought a bill and told we can only refund the food that didn’t get touched. I guess if you need to see if your food is still hot you should stick your finger in it?

Very disappointed, staff couldn’t care less and it is obvious you coming in is an inconvenience to them. Hope the owner sees what has happened to the reviews in the last few months.

Went in for my birthday lunch with my cousin. We were greeted with menus and chips. We waited for our server for long enough we had to ask a passing server if she could take our order. Thankfully she did. Brought out refills and there was lipstick on the glass and it wasn’t ours. That’s just rude and disgusting. I never expected it to be that way there, usually nice and good food. And there were only 3 other tables in the whole place.

I love this place. The Tacos are amazing and the meat is so delicious like no where else. I ordered the Taco salad, and Tacos my friend got the yummy Elotes corn and the meal I believe Burrito and he loved the place after his first time there! we also loved the sauces with the chips (the green one is my favorite) please go here for Mexican food, it’s the number one place in my book! I’m not a first timer… I live down the road. Thank you to the servers, compliments to the cooks, and the rest of the rest of the staff. Shared previous nacho pics! You wouldn’t even believe it if you saw it. This place is the hidden gem of Clarkston.❤️Also if there is a wait to get seated… wait. You will thank me later.

Was not going to leave review, but I decided its probably best, be cautious about your sour cream , the side of sour cream on my plate with food was no bueno!! It smelled horrible and I got a little taste that totally ruined my meal. Told waitress and she said sorry , she told kitchen and brought a new one. Was not looking for a free meal, but a discount or something besides im sorry would of been better, since you just served me expired sour cream, good thing I realized it before eating a big amount I dont feel comfortable going into this establishment anymore in past a waitress who still is employed there, added a tip for themselves, after I had wrote cash on table on my reciept and left cash on table, and now they are serving expired sour cream while charging full price for it, not offering to remake food , discount or offer desert to make up for it , if im paying 18.00 for my food could you please not serve me a side of expired sour cream on my plate to put on my food. Im not paying you to give me food poisoning. I am very disappointed I really did like going there in past , but I will not be going there again.

I know its Halloween and some were made to work while others are out having fun ans our dinner tonight definitely reflected their emotions. To start, our waitress Gabrielle S (only knew her name due to the receipt as she didn’t introduce herself at all) was very rushed on getting our drink and food order but when I explained I had a food allergy she just said “okay” and gave no reassurance that the food I would be ordering wouldn’t have that ingredient. I had to wait for my fiance to try the rice and beans before eating it myself as I was worried my request wasn’t really met. My quesadillas were fine but lacked flavor (I got shredded chicken and the most flavorful part was the cheese) but they were also soggy? My fiance got the steak gorditas and he said he could barely taste the steak, mainly tasted like beans. Our daughter (3) loved her chicken and fries but when I tasted them they just tasted like oil. We had to ask our waitress for refills on our drinks and waited almost 20 minutes for the check. It’s worth being said that she only had 1 other table and was sitting 2 booths behind us talking to another waitress and not doing anything (ex: her side work). I’ve been a server and worked in other restaurant positions and I can confidently say that if I had acted the way she did, I wouldn’t expect a tip from the table I was waiting on. My sister loves coming here but unfortunately this was my first time and I can 100% say that I will never return.

I was told that this wasn’t the best Jalapenos. However our service was great, our food was tasty and the atmosphere was normal for a restaurant on a Friday early evening… No complaints!!

Seriously love Jalapeño’s! It doesn’t matter if it is the Pontiac or Clarkston restaurant. The food is fantastic and the quality is unmatched. When a restaurant makes its own unique salsas, that tells me that what you’re getting is something fresh and that the owner prides themselves on delivering a delicious experience that doesn’t come from a cookie-cutter food service. The prices are very reasonable and I never walk away hungry. Get a large chicken nachos to go. It is so full it is served in a pizza box. It is a treat for my family and myself every time we order from there. The staff is always very friendly and the atmosphere is fun.
