Had the tropical ceviche, Caribbean chicken, Mai Tai, and dessert/coffee. Everything was delicious and fresh. Great location. If you’re in La Fortuna, don’t listen to Google Maps that takes you counterclockwise the long way around. Go west. There are some nice mountain roads that are much closer.

The food was very fresh and delicious, and we absolutely loved this restaurant. Everything we tried was fantastic, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. We enjoyed it so much that we went two nights in a row. Highly recommended!

Well worth the drive up the mountain, the view was spectacular and very cool to be able to see into Nicaragua. Food was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Highly recommend making the effort to go there and ideally go during daylight hours and even better in good weather…try at sunset if you can see the sun.

Great views, friendly service—but hit or miss on the food.
Jalapas in La Fortuna has a stunning view and welcoming staff, though the place looked like it was still under construction. Most of our dishes were delicious—especially the plantains—but the coconut shrimp was chewy with a strange aftertaste and definitely not worth the $40 price tag. Overall, a pricey experience with a few highs and a few disappointments.

We stumbled across this place around 12:30 and we’re a little skeptical because we were the only ones in the restaurant. The view is amazing and we can spend hours just watching the clouds go by. The food is outstanding and a fresh take using locally sourced ingredients. Delicious.!

Lovely quiet restaurant in La Fortuna. We are here twice on our trip. Food was delicious. My husband said it was the best beef he’s ever eaten (he had the beef rib). The coconut shrimp and fried rice were fantastic. We dined here with our 4 kids. The service was excellent! Highly recommend!

Amazing place with super delicious food, especially Caribbean chicken and very friendly staff. The view must be great as well though during our visit the volcano was covered.

As we entered, we noticed that the atmosphere was not as shown on picture. It looked like a budget hospital. The intense smell of oil was just adding onto the amount of problems. Then our server DINGO, served me the rawest steak I have ever seen. Later I sent it back, and when it arrived back it shrunk by 50% and it was cooked far beyond well done. Extremely chewy, and disappointing. This is a disgrace for the cow that gave its live for this steak. The price was extremely high for the quality of food and service. This was a terrible experience and all the other reviews don’t tell the truth. Never coming back

I visited Arenal 2 years ago and I really should’ve written about this place sooner. Jalapas was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I ended up going there 3 times during my 5 night stay and it felt even better each time. The ceviches in particular were absolutely incredible. If I ever come back to Arenal, this place will be #1 on my must-visit list.
