First time here after hearing about it for over a year and we’re very happy with the whole experience. I have had cod twice and didn’t like it either time,( not here) but it was excellent. I had the tavern cod dinner with the home made Cole slaw and fries, my wife had the catfish dinner and it was cooked just the way she likes it. Sean , our server was very knowledgeable on the menu and was on top of everything but not hovering. We will definitely be back. Best food we’ve had in the Benton area. And the beer was very cold.

Kind of a hidden gem, fish was great, wings are some of the best around. Our waitress was super friendly and made suggestions on what to order, would absolutely eat there again.

I really wished I remembered our waitress’ name, she was amazing! We are staying at motel Benton (also adorable and also recommend) and decided to have some dinner and drinks here and we are SO glad we did. Great service, drinks were good, and food was DELICIOUS. We got Cajun shrimp skewers for the appetizer, the 1lb snow crab dinner, and the catfish dinner and we have zero complaints. I highly recommend getting some of the Cajun seasoning to add to the butter for the crab if you like spice. We’re in the middle of traveling long hours and this really couldn’t have been a better spot for us to stop to enjoy!

Firstly, I am a picky eater. Mason was the waiter tonight and this was my first time eating here. Mason went above and beyond what anyone would expect. Came to our table at a timely manner. He probed the specials for the night and one stuck out to me – Norwegian caught Salmon. I didn’t have that though. My friend and I had plenty other good food! For two meals, two appetizers (spin dip and 12 wings) and a dessert, it came out to a total of $56. I wanted the full experience and I got it! The cod I got was good, but the smell wasn’t cutting it with me. Still, overall my honest review would grade it 9.6/10.
Edit to add: the wings are legit the best around. I don’t typically eat wings either if that tells anyone anything

You won’t think some place in Benton ILLINOIS would have a good soft shelled crab sandwich in January but they did. Easy going pub like atmosphere with a patio that looked like a good choice if it had been warm.

Stopped in with my sisters for dinner and drinks because I’d heard good things from friends. We had a great time! We sat outside in the patio area which is very nice and relaxing. Before we knew it, we’d been there for 2 hours! Laughing and talking and being served delicious food and yummy drinks by a very nice gentleman…

It was fun, quirky, and delicious! We had a table of 6, no warning for them. We were seated immediately by a younger man who was extremely helpful, kind, and well educated on the menu. Our drink order and appetizer order was taken (and delivered) quickly. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip. I was hesitant as it’s a cold dip and I prefer hot but I was incredibly surprised. It was great, the chips were hot, well seasoned, and obviously house made. Our entrees included cod sandwiches, clam strips, crab cakes, onion rings, fries, slaw, and a dinner salad. The dressing on the salad was amazing (Bleu cheese but was house made and had ample Bleu cheese crumbles, my favorite), croutons were house made with good flavor. All seafood dishes were hot (very hot but we were warned and impatient), well seasoned, great quality, and we’re not stingy on serving sizes. We all left with to-go boxes and full stomachs. The clam strips weren’t over cooked and the batter was great! The crab cakes were very rich but delicious! I think they were my favorite (even though it wasn’t my order). The price was very good for the amount we had. Our waiter was top notch, deserves a raise, and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our dinner. I didn’t catch his name. I definitely recommend this place. Kinda hard to spot if you aren’t familiar with it and we were unsure of parking but found a parking lot just passed it.

We stopped in from Harrisburg and we’re glad to see it was worth the drive. The aesthetics made it fun to look around. The service was good and the food was amazing. Loved the blackened salmon and crab cakes. Good to know there’s a good sea food place available. Was definitely worth the drive

I had the red snapper that was so tough I needed a knife to cut it. The taste was decent but no where near what it should be. Red beans and rice with the smoked sausage was very good. The coconut shrimp was great and would order it again but the Red Snapper ruined the whole experience. They do have live music outside that is a nice setting. I would not recommend the red snapper but will update after I have tried the crab legs

The fish was good and had the grilled chicken on a second visit and it was tasty. The potato salad is awful. The vegetables were cold and cooked to mush. Our waitress was perfect on the first visit. Waitress on second visit was not as great. The cold spinach dip was surprisingly delicious.
