Simple eggs, burgers & sandwiches in a no-frills, casual diner. Home of the Gut Buster breakfast.
A Couple Drinks
We tried Jack & Benny’s and ordered the Jack Buster and the Biscuits & Gravy with a side of bacon for takeout. We were literally next door, so the food didn’t have to travel far. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what we hoped for.
The Jack Buster didn’t have much flavor, and the toast tasted stale.
The Biscuits & Gravy didn’t impress either — the biscuits seemed like they came from the freezer, and it didn’t even come with eggs, which was surprising.
The bacon was so thin it was practically see-through.
Overall, we were hoping for a classic diner experience but left feeling underwhelmed.

I met up with a few friends here for lunch. We wrote our name down on the waitlist and only had to wait for about 5-10 minutes before we could be sat. The waiting area has some chairs and tons of plants surrounding you. The menu had all of your basic breakfast and brunch options. I opted for a half serving of French toast with tea, while my friends ordered the Arnold, and some type of sandwich (pictured). Everyone seemed pleased with their choices.
The vibe here is laid back and you don’t feel rushed to finish your food and leave. The noise level was tolerable, so that was nice. We were able to hold a conversation and still be able to hear each other. I would like to return in the future!

Sadly this will be our last visit to this restaurant. We had been there a few times in the past and had great food and service. This time, the food was not up to par. Was not served hot, and the biscuits and gravy were a joke. I wanted homemade gravy and it tasted institutional. And the two pieces were bite size. This was a half order that costs 5.99. I should’ve know it had gone downhill when there wasn’t a line waiting to get in as it had always been before. Shameful to put that on a plate and send it out.

I’m no fan of OSU at all in fact we were in town for the PSU wrestling match where we stomped OSU. But the food at this place was amazing it’s a dirty grease pit for sure. But the service was fast the food was hot and delicious. The price was more than reasonable and did I mention the food was amazing. Highly recommend having breakfast here if you’re in town!

REAL ORANGE JUICE! It was amazing. We ordered orange juice with our meals, no biggie. But when they arrived they looked funny to us. The color was off. Well it was because it was FRESH SQUEEZED! Amazing ! The food was also very good. My wife enjoyed the breakfast burrito, it was quite large. I had one of their specials, it was great. The food arrived quickly and hot.

The food was BAD. The gravy was microwaved, the preshredded potatoes were undercooked and my over medium eggs were overdone. The ham they served as a breakfast meat was a slice or 2 of thinly sliced sandwich meat. My wife had 3 strawberry pancakes. That plus 2 soft drinks that were never refilled cost me just shy of $43. Which is not what was posted in their menu. I will not ever be back , they used their chance at reoccurring business to scam me for what is a criminal amount for the service rendered! I suggest you not eat here!!!

It’s a good place to grab a bit of breakfast with a friend. It’s about what you would expect out of any breakfast diner. Food came out pretty fast and we were met promptly with a waiter when we were seated.
Big downside of this place is the low amount of seating. Granted they can only do so much with the small amount of space that they have so I can’t really fault them for that. Expect to wait at least 15 minutes to get seated when you come here.
The food itself was fine. About what I would expect from a breakfast diner and the prices were fair. I’d come back sometime maybe on a weekday when it’s a little less busy. Nice little place with a good atmosphere though.

Maybe the worst scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. I didn’t know you could mess up scrambled eggs until here. They were hard and tasteless. I expect more than 1 single egg when I order scrambled eggs on the side. So much cinnamon on the French toast that I choked on it slightly. You can see in the picture the insane amount of cinnamon piled.
My group waited about 30 minutes for the check AFTER we got our plates cleared. I had to track our waitress down to even get it then.
No check splitting which sucked for our group of college kids who don’t readily have $100+ to drop on their card.
Atmosphere is nice which is only reason this isn’t a 1 star. There’s so many good places to eat breakfast in Columbus, id avoid this one.

Fresh squeezed orange juice! Real fruit pancakes baked in! I love going here, great prices and great breakfast. The buster Douglas is perfect with the gravy on the side and coupled with a blueberry and apple pancake cover with butter and honey. The fresh made orange juice is the icing on this wonderful place.
Service is fast and great in this old style dinner setting. I will be coming again and again. Ill get food pictures next time, haha, so good I forgot to. I came back a few days later and got the same thing: James Buster Douglas with extra egg and bacon with a blueberry and apple pancake! Soo good!
Thank you to the owner and manager for this nice place. The redone menu looks clean and nice!

It was okay. Not as cheap as it used to be (as is anything else), service was kinda slow, food was nothing special. Didn’t refill drinks. After finishing our food, I had to get up and find someone to ask about paying. The restaurant was empty. No cash payments. $11 for my omelette and small pieces of toast. Ive heard the pancakes are good!
