Smoked wings… mediocre. Wings were actually TOUGH. Skin was tough.. meat tough.
Hard no on food… especially for the price. I’m a serious southern food lover and cook myself: My mom sold Southern food from her kitchen, from scratch, in Chicago, for years. Sorry… no. Husband ordered the French dip.Mediocre at best.
I’m so sorry J Renders, but if you’re going to be southern fare.. do better.
The mac & cheese was rich, creamy, and unforgettable. Their Maker’s Mark Bourbon BBQ sauce is outstanding and pairs perfectly with the smoked meats. Fantastic food, warm atmosphere, and great bourbon selection!
The brisket left me wanting something more though.
We were out of town and luckily found J.Renders right next to our motel. We’re so glad we stumbled upon such a fantastic barbecue place nearby. We tried the sampler, which included shrimp, ribs, pull pork, and sausage. The ribs were massive and absolutely delicious, the shrimp were grilled to perfection, and the pull pork and sausage were top-notch. The BBQ had a great balance of sweet and tangy flavors. Overall, it was a wonderful meal. The service could have been better, but we were the only people who decided to sit outside, so it might have been our server was busy inside. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking out J.Renders.
The platter included brisket, pork, shrimp, and chicken, plus two sides. The side portions were extremely small for the price, but the main issue was the meat quality. The brisket was by far the worst item — very dry, tough, and lacking moisture or flavor. The pork and shrimp were also dry and overcooked. The only item that was cooked reasonably well was the half chicken, which makes me think this may have been an off day or food that sat too long before being served. Or I was served yesterday’s meat reheated.
I don’t leave negative reviews lightly and usually give businesses the benefit of the doubt. A 4-meat platter should showcase the best of the kitchen, and this unfortunately missed the mark.
Don’t eat here. It’s not worth your hard earned money
There was no wait at J. renders and we were one of the first and only tables inside. There were seven of us and one child. The waitress was friendly enough, but struggled to meet our basic needs. I ordered an ice water multiple times and never recieved it. Another in our party ordered an espresso that took 15-20 minutes to arrive as we watched it sit on the counter for -9 minutes waiting to be delivered.
The food took over 40 minutes to be delivered. I ordered the Benedict which was sat at the table completely cold. Not even slightly warm. I had others at my table try it to confirm and we all agreed it was worth telling the staff about. After pointing it out to the waitress I did ask for it to be taken off the bill but told her we didn’t have time for a new one to be delivered. She didn’t take it off, but instead discounted it 20 percent.
The “poached egg” was a hard boiled egg on top of the Benedict that was also cold. (See photo) Everyone www very underwhelmed with their food, the wait, and the service. I could say many more things about the food, but you get it by now. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The appetizers were awesome. Cold beer and BBQ. How could you go wrong? Everything was fantastic! Greens, coleslaw, cornbread all the smoked meats. My son smashed the smashburger and the smoked wings….get outta town!
Amanda our server was great too.
I wish I had found this place sooner!
