Stopped in with our group after playing golf. Kind of a small place, pretty clean. Staff was friendly enough. Only one person taking orders and doing the cooking. Ordered fish and chips and two of the three orders were average, but one order contained a severely overcooked piece of fish that never should have been served. The fries were great. We will probably look for other food options next time we play this course.

Service was amazing, which is why this gets a 4. My husband had the spicy honey BBQ sandwich, which was delicious. I ordered the fish and chips, which was disappointing. Fish was overcooked and rubbery — no seasoning. Fries were fine. Cole slaw definitely pre-packaged. Overall, fine for a quick lunch.

Fantastic food. The fish and chips were so good that my kid ate all of my pieces and the Cole slaw is legit! It’s hard to find a place that actually knows how to make a proper slaw! We will be back

Outstanding service. Everyone was kind and the food came fast, especially for a sit-down restaurant. They weren’t uptight, gave me several refills on the house. Highly recommend the burgers.

Made reservations for 2 at J.R.’s Sandtrap for 6:30 pm Saturday night Feb 14th. There were a number of people there either eating dinner or waiting to be served when we walked in. There was only one person working there taking orders, cooking food, cleaning tables, and taking payments.
After sitting there for 20 minutes without service, we got up and left.
I don’t know how one employee can run a restaurant that serves dinner every night. The week before that, we went there for dinner at 5:30 pm, and the doors were locked.
I know that I won’t be going back there again.

After an incredible round of 18 at Port Ludlow Golf course I went to the club house to eat at this restaurant. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The service was fantastic and the food was top notch! Sat out side and had a great view of the 9th hole green and the fair way of hole one. Can’t wait to make my way back to this Gem!!

Waited 10+ minutes to be noticed and was not busy. Took an additional 45 minutes to receive a cold hamburger and cold sweet potato fries. Was told it had just come off the grill and took so long because of a small grill and multiple orders in advance of mine. No food went out prior to my getting my food. Was in the restaurant business myself and was facing the kitchen and watched the process. Disappointed because I had heard it was good food and service. No $$ paid.

Review for JR’s Sand Trap @ Port Ludlow Golf Course

We really enjoy golfing at Port Ludlow a couple of times a year — the course is always in great shape, and the staff in the pro shop and on the grounds are consistently friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, our experience at JR’s Sand Trap during our visit on Saturday, July 12th, 2025, was disappointing. While we’ve never had particularly memorable service at JR’s in the past, it’s usually just fine, which is all we need when we’re there to enjoy a day of golf. This time, however, the staff member working was inexplicably rude and impatient, even though we were the only customers there. All we wanted were a few hot dogs and drinks to take with us. We ended up simply buying four waters and went on our way.

There seemed to be something going on behind the scenes that we weren’t privy to, but the behavior was uncalled for and left us frustrated. We reported the incident to the pro shop, who were understanding and professional, and we went on to have a great time on the course.

I hope JR’s addresses whatever internal staffing issues might be going on — as it stands, it detracts from an otherwise excellent golf experience at Port Ludlow.

Our waitress was friendly and pleasant, but we waited a long time for our food to be prepared. While the food we ordered was tasty (especially the onion rings and sweet potato fries), the menu selection didn’t have a lot of offerings that interested me. Ambiance was lacking; it was cold enough that we didn’t remove our jackets and I ordered hot tea to help warm me up. While I may return occasionally, I will not be a regular customer.

Pretty view of the golf course on a nice day, we sat outside to eat. Waited over an hour and they still didn’t have the food out. We were very patient and waited. Waitress said sorry for the wait once but then after another 25 minutes of waiting we left when I saw the cook on his hands and knees in the kitchen cleaning rather than prepping the food we had been waiting so long for.
