I first ate here some 20 odd years ago when it was called “East Village Thai”, and it sustained for me as the best, no frills, legit Thai restaurants since. I was planning to be in the area tonight and sought out “EVT” only to sadly have google/yelp tell me it had closed. I decided to walk buy for nostalgic reasons, and noticed there was a “new” spot in its place. I soon learned Itthi has since taken over the place earlier this year, and has continued on the tradition. The food is delicious, the portions generous, the prices reasonable even in todays inflation fattened reality. And on top- Itthi is super sweet, passionate, and friendly. Eat here- you won’t regret it.

IttEast is the reason why local places are worth a visit. The owner was so friendly and even gave me a wonderful Thai iced tea on the house because I mentioned I was a new student nearby. I got the Pad Thai and it was a HUGE portion, great for its price, and it tasted absolutely amazing. Not too spicy if you get it mild, sweet and sour, decadent umami. Will be going back for their lunch specials. 🙂

Tucked away from Manhattan’s tourist hotspots, this Thai restaurant is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Don’t let its humble appearance fool you – the traditional Thai cuisine here packs an unparalleled punch of authenticity and value.

Want “authentic” Thai good? This is it. Literally a one-person shop. Close your eyes, and you’re at a night market Bangkok.

Great quick Thai classics – wonderful flavor, freshly prepared. Also nice to have a quick casual place with great prices rather than having to sit down. (While there also overheard them call another customer to ask about a seeming discrepancy in their order to make sure it was right – they seem to actually be attention to making things right for guests!)

Stopped by for pad thai and basil chicken—generous portions, incredibly delicious, wonderful value! “The best basil chicken I’ve had from a restaurant in NYC,” said the guy I was with, who was born in Thailand.
