Our tour guide theo recommended this restaurant. We came on a Friday night to celebrate our 1st night honeymoon and my husbands birthday. Staff were very friendly and checked on us various times. We loved the pop corn with drinks very original. The waiter explained the difference to meats and made recommendations which we highly appreciated. The fillet was delicious and with the sides more than enough. Very tasty and full of flavour. It was a little noisy as it was a da Friday night but that would be in any restaurant I guess. I do recommend for anyone in town wishing to eat a delicious meat or drink delicious cocktails.

Excellent experience overall.
The food was great — I ordered the picanha and it was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. Easily one of the highlights of the meal.
Service was outstanding, special thanks to Jenna, who was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel welcoming without being intrusive.
The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, making it a great spot for a quality steak dinner.
Definitely a place worth revisiting.

The restaurant was around 25°C inside, but there was no cool air flowing, so it felt quite stuffy and my wife and I had to step outside three times just to get some fresh air. The beef meatball was flavorful but on the salty side and became a bit heavy after a few bites; the fish ball had a strong cumin note, yet the overall seasoning was milder than the beef and easier to enjoy. The steak had good beefy taste and was cooked to a nice doneness, but there were quite a few tendons so the texture was not the soft, melt‑in‑your‑mouth type. In contrast, the fish fillet was excellent, with tender, juicy flesh and no fishy smell, and ended up being the most satisfying dish of the meal.

Ok, you’ll see from my profile that I’ve travelled a lot, all over the world and so am experienced

The food was good, but the signature steak was not very tender. They give you a sharp knife for a reason. Tasty though. Veg were nice

So it’s a Food 3*. Maybe the expensive cuts and Wagyu are much better – probably. I’d try the Wagyu if I were you…

At-table service was generally good but I’m marking it down heavily because they tried to over-charge us. In 30 years and 100 countries, how many times have I seen it?

It’s the SAME predictable style – don’t add extra items, just add less obvious quantities. It was 2 glasses of wine, magically charged as 4

The over-acting on pointing it out pretty much confirmed it..

I couldn’t go back for that reason – feels like a we’ll-oiled scam going on there. No believable reason to suggest why they would mistakenly add 2 extra glasses…… ‍♂️

Except! Here’s the clever part…..

The manager comes over and asks if you want 2 more wines, you say ‘no’ , but they then have the excuse to say it was confusion They create the excuse

Iron opens with a smart touch: complimentary popcorn soaked in beef drippings. Simple, salty, addictive.

Starters set the tone. The fried mushrooms are feather-light, crisp, and paired with a punchy aioli — genuinely epic. The braaibroodjie is just as good, but both plates are tiny, almost snack-sized.

We shared the 1kg porterhouse for the main and it was outstanding. Cooked exactly right, deeply flavourful, and easily one of the better steaks you’ll find in Cape Town.

Sides hit mixed notes. The mac and cheese is spot on — crunchy top, molten centre. The potatoes are forgettable: under-seasoned and a small portion. The aubergine, though, is excellent, carrying big tomato flavour and a generous Parmesan finish.

Margaritas were a miss for me — far too sour to enjoy.

Overall: a very tasty meal with some real highs, but the pricing sits well above what you’d expect for a casual, relaxed spot in Cape Town. Great food, just hard to justify the cost.

So, for meat fans: definitely go here!
We’ve been here a few times and will definitely come back.
Beside the lovely atmosphere, the service and the food was a delight. The meat was cooked perfectly, on point and everyone was friendly.
The sides could be a bit more large, but anyway, we had a good time here and the meat had a delicious taste!

Stopped by here and ordered the Wagu Flat Iron medium rare with a side of creamed spinach and some red wine. It was decent steak but not like Wagu Ive had in the past. The service was great. Unfortunately on the menu the Wagu Flat Iron was listed at 400 and change and when the bill came they charged 600 and change. I paid the bill left a tip but I will not return TBH.

we shared a ribeye which was so soft and delicious. as a side i had the cinnamon butternut, quite sweet but very nice! we also had an espresso parfait for dessert, my favorite part of this dinner! the free caramel ice cream cone as we left was a nice touch.
staff was friendly and attentive. our waiter Ziyaad was kind and explained the menu in great detail. thank you!

What a great place to visit. Another awesome experience with our “Dinner Club” group. 18 of us split into 2 tables eating awesome food. Great atmosphere and good service. We had a set menu and chose the chicken and meat balls starter and the burger and Picanha steak. All were very yummy. The starters were both amazing and totally different. The mains tasted incredible and were done to perfection. Simple dessert of their salted caramel ice-cream, sugar cone and chocolate crumbs. Our waiter was very good and knew his stuff. Friendly and helpful. There are vegetable options but their meat is way to go. They also serve popcorn that was delicious. Different and so yum. Give it a try. Iron Steak and Bar is highly recommended. Loved it.

Best popcorn I have ever had! That was a good start to have some popcorn while we looked at the menu. We ordered flank wagyu steak and it was very juicy and tender. Desserts were very nicely decorated but the tastes I’d say okay. The service was very good and we got free ice cream before we left the restaurant.
