Coming from Japan where we enjoy some great Korean Barbecue, we were a little concerned about Iron Age. Our expectations were exceeded. We enjoyed our meal and left happy.
Fixed price buffet. Happy Hour from 3:00-6:00 PM.
Our table had a lot of questions about the sake and soju options, and instead of giving quick answers, Alex kept coming back with more information and thoughtful guidance to help us decide. It was clear he genuinely cared about helping us find something we’d enjoy.
He was attentive without hovering and somehow always seemed to anticipate what we needed before we asked.
Our group is made up of bartenders, so we notice good service when we see it — and Alex absolutely nailed it. He helped turn a normal dinner into a really memorable evening.
If you go, ask for Alex. You’ll be in very good hands.
What made it even better was the variety-being able to mix and match flavors and cook everything right at the table made it fun and interactive. We definitely didn’t leave hungry (pretty sure we all hit that “just one more round” stage more than once).
For a casual lunch, it turned into such a memorable experience, and I’d go back in a heartbeat next time I’m in town.
I am beyond disappointed with this Iron Age location. We came here to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday, something she had been excited about for weeks. Her favorite dish is Japchae with brisket, and she specifically wanted to celebrate here. We chose this location because it was closer for our family, even though we usually go to the Annandale location where we always have a much better experience.
From the beginning, things went wrong. They did not have Japchae available, which was very upsetting because that was the main reason my daughter wanted to come. We drove out of our way expecting the same quality and menu as the Annandale location, but that was not the case.
What hurt the most was how poorly the birthday was handled. We told the staff it was her 16th birthday, and there was no effort at all to acknowledge it. No small gesture, no mention, nothing. It made the experience feel cold and careless.
As a parent, it was honestly painful to see my daughter disappointed on a day that was supposed to be special. A **16th birthday only happens once**, and this restaurant turned what should have been a happy celebration into a frustrating and upsetting experience.
We have always enjoyed Iron Age before, but after this experience, I seriously doubt we will return to this location. Very disappointing.

I was sooo happy to find out that there’s a kbbq within walking distance of my Airbnb! Iron Age is a big chain, but every time I go there I have the best experience. Their meats are so juicy and smell so good. The waiter was very attentive and frequently asked us how we were doing and whether we needed more meat. What’s even better is it’s only $32 per person for dinner, which is not bad at all for kbbq. Needless to say I will be their frequent customer in my last few weeks in D.C.!
The vibe and ambiance was nice too…I loved the music they were playing. The staff was super friendly. I had a great experience and can’t wait to come here again!
The food was nice (for all the raw/marinated meats & side dishes) and our server, Carlos, he was awesome because he helped us so rapidly that we could get anything right after asking to him =)
The one thing that I’m suggesting to Iron Age is to add soup/noodle items on their menu.
It’ll be more fantastic experience if we could have them with the meats.
Nice food, venue, and staff,
I’ll definitely find Iron Age again when I visit DC in the future.
