Dining at Ipponyari Japanese Restaurant in Alabang West Parade …
Reviews
Here after watching extreme circus. There is a wait if you dont have any reservations, Food is good, pay parking available. Price ₱₱₱
As someone who frequents this place, I think I would know what to expect from our usual order. Everything was spot on apart from the noticeable smaller portion size for the sashimi and the spicy salmon maki which wasn’t spicy at all and leaned towards a more peppery taste – it was all you could taste! No salmon, no spice (hell not even the mayo)
What irked my sister and I was the terrible response from the kitchen and floor staff (IY has an open sushi bar) after providing feedback that the roll tasted different from what we usually had. Continued back and forth with the floor server and the sushi maker had the attitude to cancel our order after that instead of remaking it as requested. Staff didn’t bother to taste the returned roll but had the audacity to tell us that it had the same taste?? Any sane decent person would’ve had at least given it a taste lol.
They then proceeded to keep on talking about the complaint made out in the open. This made us lose our appetite and left about 60% of our order uneaten.
(captured is the “new” roll – reused the same one from the first roll served)
I personally do not appreciate the foul remarks made by the staff. I get that sort of discussion is normal but holy hell to do so out in the open like that and do so repeatedly? I wonder who wouldn’t lose their appetites.
Absolutely lost the amor we had for the chain, terrible service. Unprofessional floor staff and kitchen staff. Ann and Rose are beyond unprofessional, not something that you would expect from people who were trained under “hospitality” and the f&b scene. Manager was great, she honestly deserves better staff to work with.
Paid for everything in full; didn’t accept any sad attempt to compensate. Maybe consider a re-evaluation of your personnel before they put off more people.
There are plenty of parking spaces at the parking lot of the Alabang West Parade although there is paid parking. There is I think free parking at the side.
We came here on a father’s day sunday which is jam packed, the restaurant normally accepts reservations but on special occasions or holidays like today they do not accept reservations. It pays to really come early because we arrived just in time that it was filling up so we didn’t queue up.
The service like every Japanese restaurant in the metro, very well trained exceptional service. Although, it was packed to the brim at lunch time the mere fact that they were able to cater to every table’s order is a plus points to the crew.
The serving time was not that long they advised 20 to 25 mins serving time but it only took 12 minutes for our order. What a well prepared crew I must say and yes I timed it.
The price is surprisingly not that expensive for the orders we had I was expecting around 7k on the bill but was surprised that it was around 4k. Shockingly, affordable for a high quality restaurant grade meals.
The Saba Shio Yaki is quite small on the portions unlike previous japanese restaurants I have reviewed but it remained flavorful and the saba or mackerel brings out that taste that pairs well with rice.
The Oyakodon is cooked really well and it’s a staple of japanese donburis. Ipponyari’s Oyakodon is not only savory but has a big portion in my opinion.
The yakinikudon’s sliced beef is marinated well enough that it has that beefy smell and soft beef It’s a simple yet flavorful dish.
The Chukadon is an example of a non vegetarian dish but we asked for it to be vegetarian and they honored our request.
I highly suggest the Shima Hokke Yaki its one of their best dishes on the menu.
As for the drinks I recommend the Macaronge drink its a mix of Mango Carrots and Orange.
Overall, I would eat here again but maybe on a less busier time.
The ingredients are fresh and A-1. The servings are full and not “bitin”.
They offer different types of Japanese style foods, from sushi to udons to tonkatsu to ramens to sashimi to bento boxes.
Prices are affordable compared to high-end Japanese restos in Alabang area.
The staff are courteous and helpful.
✅For senior patrons, please check and review the discounts applied.
Notable in the menu:
Chicken Yakitori especially the chicken leg
Saba Shio Yaki (Mackerel)
Salmon Sashimi – good marbling!
Nigiri Sushi
Drinks: Yuzu Sour (just get the mega!). Suntory Kaku High Ball (has kick!)
Our family dined outdoors but even in this April weather, the place is just designed to accommodate outdoor dining i guess? Because we never felt the heat, ventilation is really nice. Did I mention the flawless service? Our food just kept coming without any follow ups needed. The crew are all communicating properly complete with headsets – the dining staff can really talk to the kitchen efficiently!
There is a nice waiting area, it is a square space with not just chairs but also tables. Strictly no dining allowed here. Impressive how they never get tempted to convert this space into extra dining considering there’s always a lot of people lining up.. Gives the impression of quality control.
Will definitely come back!
