The shakes are very good here. Basket of fries was plenty for 2 people. Seating outside was wonderful as the sun set too. I will be back for a burger soon. Love the nostalgia of Mr. Hamburger!

We ordered The Warden burger and The Killer burger, which were pretty good. Well seasoned patties that taste homemade. Fries were okay, just in consistent in doneness (some limp, some crispy) and kinda salty.
Biggest problem is that we ordered a peanut butter chocolate shake to go. We had already left when I put the straw in the cup and saw the sun shine through enough to see how much they shorted us. They only gave us like 3/4 of a cup worth! Shake itself was just okay tasting and very thick.
Service was friendly but the cashier was kind of loopy and is the same lady who made the shake. Overall wasn’t worth the trip to Huntsville.

Burgers are good. The brisket fries are damn good. They were out last time I stopped on the way to Houston. It was a Sunday, so I’m not sure the best days or time to make sure they haven’t run out

These are the best burgers ever! They are quite greasy, but I don’t get a burger and expect it to be dry. They are packed with flavor and i love their fries. The prices are fair and you get a lot of food for what you pay! The shakes and malts are to die for.

This place is a great spot to grab a burger, fries, or a shake. They also have custom sodas, which is very nostalgic.

Recently before my drive to Ft. Worth I watched a show The Texas Bucket List which showed a Burger restaurant in Huntsville Texas just a few blocks from the Prison there. They talked about how released prisoners would head there as soon as they were released to enjoy there first meal as a free man. So, on my drive back to Houston I made sure to stop and try Mr. Hamburger for myself. The place is small but, clean and quiet. A Great menu with burger names like The Warden, The convict, the Great Escape to choose from and Friendly staff. I had the Original in which my Burger was meaty, Juicy and Delicious along with Hot & Crispy fries. They even have the Original Mr. Hamburger sign on display inside. If you’re driving to Houston on 45South be sure to stop on by Mr. Hamburger to enjoy a Great Burger. You won’t be disappointed.

The burgers are thick and juicy. The onion rings are delicious too but the portion was smaller than I was expecting but overall it’s still a good value for the price. I guess I’ll order extra next time.

Update: We ate there today. No more brisket dogs. The portion sizes are significantly smaller. And prices have increased.
Glad I ate there a while ago when it was better.
We moved my daughter to Sam Houston State over the weekend and needed something to eat. A Google Search turned up a hamburger place called “Mr. Hamburger”. So, we went.
It’s across the street from the Walls Unit Prison, the burgers have very appropriae, “The Warden”, “Ol’ Sparky”, and the ever popular “The Killer”.
I got Ol’ Sparky ‘cuz it’s deep-fried. Kinda tasted like a chicken-fried steak burger.
My wife got the Brisket Dog and Mexican Street Fries – like street corn, but fries.
My daughter, the po’ college student, said she will definitely be back for more – the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was less than $4!
Just watch out for the old sign that’s encased in glass. It’s kinda scary looking…

Years ago, we used to eat at Mr. Hamburger in a different location. We decided to see if this place had the same good food as the old place. I got the classic bacon cheeseburger, and my wife got the warden burger. The food was good. I really like the old gas station appearance. It was very nostalgic.

We are here for the first time last month. We were hoping for a small town diner feel and taste and we’re not disappointed! The menu is straightforward, with burgers, hotdogs, fries, and shakes. We tried 4 burgers our favorites were the warden and killer. Ingredients were fresh, burgers were cooked medium and juicy, right amount of toppings, bread as toasty. The ranch fries were ok, we loved the mexican street fries and the onion rings. Overall, good food, good service, classic diner fee decor, great experience overall!
