Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza in Santa Fe has some truly great food. The Meatball pizza was excellent—flavorful, perfectly cooked, and definitely a standout. The Caesar salad was also delicious and fresh, making for a really enjoyable meal overall.
Unfortunately, the initial experience wasn’t very welcoming. When we walked in, two servers were arguing, and one even used inappropriate language, which was uncomfortable. We weren’t greeted at all. After waiting, we had to track down a server ourselves to ask if we could seat ourselves, only to be told we needed to go back to the front hostess stand and order before being seated.
That said, once we got past the rough start, the experience improved. The service after ordering was good, and the quality of the food more than made up for the poor reception at giving. With better front-of-house organization and a warmer greeting, this place could easily be a top-notch dining experience

Vicino Wood Oven Pizza has a warm, casual vibe, but just a heads-up—you need to place your order before sitting down, which can catch first-timers off guard. Their beer selection is pretty limited, so don’t expect many options there.

We tried the Campagnola, which came with homemade sausage and a blend of goat cheese. The flavors were solid and the sausage was definitely the highlight. We also had the Bianca. The capocollo was very light on our pizza, but the caramelized onions were really good. A drizzle of the olive oil they provide definitely elevated the flavors.

Overall, good wood-fired pizza with some standout ingredients, but with a few small misses and limited drink choices. Would return, but with tempered expectations.

Answer: absolute bliss.
Incredible pizza. lovely customer service an adorable menu. A fantastic old school Italian pizza restaurant vibe. Class. sophistication.

And the real way pizza is supposed to be made and eaten.. with chili oil and extra cheese and red pepper packets..

Il Vivino is exceptional in every way. The food is delicious and well done. This is the place to go for wood fire pizza. We ordered a small Caesar salad, a margarita pizza and a pasta dish. We were not disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this restaurant. You will too. The service is first class and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is elegant in its decor, casual in it’s setting. Make it happen… You will thank me later. A 5 experience!

Il Vicino in Santa Fe was an excellent choice for a casual yet high-quality meal. The ordering system is efficient; guests place their orders at the counter upon entering, and then are seated while the food is prepared and brought to the table. The process feels smooth and well-organized.

Someone in my party ordered the gluten-free pizza and really enjoyed it. However, it may not be suitable for individuals with celiac disease, as it is not prepared in a dedicated gluten-free environment. I ordered the Il Vicino salad, which was fresh, flavorful, and served in a generous portion. Both the food and service exceeded expectations, and I look forward to returning during my next visit to Santa Fe.

The pizza was really good! My husband and I grabbed a pizza on our way back to our hotel after enjoying the evening out. We came in, and although they were getting ready for the last few customers and preparing to close, they warmly greeted us. We didn’t have to wait long to get our food. Although it was cold by the time we got to our hotel (we walked…it was cold…not a big deal), the pizza was delicious and satisfying! When we visit Santa Fe again, we will definitely stop by.

They also had vegan cheese and vegan sausage !! Absolutely delicious, a must try.

First off, great location and nice atmosphere. The people working here were very attentive and competent. We had a cheese pizza with added asiago and parmesan, and it was delicious, and not terribly priced. The cabernet sauvignon was excellent and reasonably priced compared to some places. I will eat here again for sure.

We ate here on a Friday night around 5pm. It was busy but not too crazy yet. You walk in, order at the counter then find a seat. They bring your order to your table. Our service was great when we ordered and super fast at the table (and there was a party of 25 being served right behind us!)
We got a vegetarian pizza on cauliflower crust (there was a rice flour choice for gluten free too-both were ready-made), a small house side salad, a large local beer and a large glass of wine. The house Italian salad dressing was DELICIOUS and we also loved the spicy oil to put on our pizza. The pizza was tasty and big enough for the 2 of us to split and be very full.
Our bill was 52$ before the tip which felt reasonable for everything we got. Great food, great service, chillax atmosphere.
We walked from our hotel, but noticed people were waiting and looking for parking spaces in the back parking lot when we left.

I am a local and have been coming here for years, today was the worst possible experience I’ve ever had here. All staff felt unapproachable. The beer my fiance ordered was incorrect. The salads came out 2 seconds before my pizza which was overwhelming. Our entire groups Cesar salads were very dry and hardly any dressing. When asked for additional cheese on my pizza I wasn’t given the option of how much but 2 spins was all I got. The only time anyone came to the table was brief and to drop off something. Giving gratuity before receiving the service was such a disappointment this time. At least my pizza was good. I know that this restaurant can do so much better because I’ve seen it first hand but I’m not thrilled about my visit today or possibly returning if it continues.
