Everything was really good and authentic, but my plate came out cold. The other plates were hot though so idk why my steak and eggs were cold. Papusas were very good. They don’t speak English though.

Good food but just a little hectic to pay. It took me around 10 minutes to pay and then another 5 to get my drink. This spot may need more cashiers on Friday and weekends.
Other than that, good food, HUGE PUPUSAS! I usually get 3 but you only need 2!

This was my first time at Dora Carmen’s. I ordered to go. What an amazing surprise. The to go containers were FULL and the food was DEEEELICIOUS! I ordered the Mojarra Frita which is very bony but cooked to perfection and my friend got the Carne Asada which he loved. The plantains were delicious with the refried beans and cream. The food was plentiful and we had to save the left overs for the next day. The prices are reasonable and I’m looking forward to returning and tasting the rest of their dishes. Staff was friendly.

If store bought powdered Horchata or RUDE service is your cup of tea, then look no further. The waitress was impatient with me, mind you Spanish is one of 3 languages I know. Also, I grew around Mexican foods and have limited experience with Salvadoran foods. I inquired about the “Enchilada” in the menu because there were no pictures and she told me “Es como la enchilada Mexican”. So then I ordered it. Once she took our order she never came back. Our order was brought out by someone else, which is fine but she didn’t hesitate to check on the Caucasian group of 12 at least 4 different occasions. Mind you the enchilada that I received was NOTHING like the Mexican enchilada. (Refer to pics)

So I’m bummed to not give them a five star, me and my kids were in the area and we happened to stop by this place, but the wait after ordering was insane. We waited for 40-45 mins for our Popusas. They were worth the wait but just a very long wait to get served.

We went here for breakfast and truly enjoyed everything that was in our plates! I got the desayuno ranchero and my brother had the desayuno #5. The pupusas were delicious, and I really appreciated that they had the Salvadoran cabbage garnish for the pupusas. All the portions were generous so we ended up very satisfied. They only have a single restroom available for the whole restaurant, so that can cause some issues, but otherwise I totally recommend this place simply for the amazing and authentic food that is difficult to stumble upon.

Authentic as authentic with Salvadoran food.
!Mojarra frita. Whole fried fish? Yes please. It was a pleasure eating a whole fish with yummy rice and beans.
The Pupusas have improved. They had a wide variety of Pupusas to try. You can’t go wrong with Pupusas. They are the staple Salvadoran dish.
Fyi. Seat yourself. You may not get a English speaking waiter. Translations below on Pupusas.
*loroco (Central American flower bud), *calabaza (squash),
*queso (cheese),
*queso con frijoles (cheese with beans), *espinaca con queso (spinach with cheese)
*Rajas (jalapeños with cheese)
*Mixta (mixed)
*Revuelta (chicharrón with cheese)

My husband and I were in the JPS area and we wanted to get some lunch, but this was one of the few restaurants open on Christmas Day. The restaurant is located in a nondescript area, and it appeared to be a hole-in-the wall, but the restaurant has plenty of tables inside. We did not have to wait to be seated. As soon as we entered, a man asked us something in rapid Spanish. Neither of us knows Spanish very well. He had an English-speaking waitress, a young lady, seat us and serve us.
The menu was entirely in Spanish. The waitress offered to explain the menu to us, but the place looked busy, so we told her it’s okay. We used google translate to help us figure things out. I ordered a corn and beans pupusa, a corn tamal, and pescada con tajada, which is fish with sliced plaintains (see photo). My husband ordered an item from the breakfast menu (see photo). I got so excited about all the options that I ordered all this food! The pupusa was scrumptious. The tamal was a bit like cakey corn bread. By the time I got to the fish plate, I was already half full. The fish plate was huge! The fish was maybe a foot long with as much plantains topped with a salsa on a bed of cabbage. It was too much food for one person, for one meal. I ended up having to take most of it home and ate some of it for dinner, but even then couldn’t finish it. My husband had to help.
Anyway, this was an excellent experience. I loved the authenticity of the meal. All of the patrons in the restaurant besides myself and my husband were locals, and Spanish speaking. The wait staff was very kind, even if they couldn’t all speak English. The waitress was patient with us. She even gave us a sample of their home-made drinks. We ended up ordering one of each: the horchata and maranones drink. They were very refreshing and sweet. The horchata was really flavorful. Although this restaurant is listed as a Salvadorean restaurant, it has some Mexican items on the menu as well as items from one other country (which I’ve forgotten). I recommend anyone trying this place for tasty food and drinks.

This place is authentic food from Salvador and Honduras and other Central America South American foods. They are very delicious and I could not believe I had fried tilapia like they make in the Philippines. I give him five stars definitely one of the best places I have eaten and the women who work there are very kind and beautiful♥️♥️♥️

Food is great, the service not so much. Be prepared to wait a minimum of 45 minutes for your food weather you dine in or call ahead.
