After two weeks in Florence, Il Santo Bevitore has provided the best meal of all. The Zuppa di Pesci is outstanding! I paired that with a delightful glass of Vermentino. Second was the Piccione, pigeon. Similar to duck in the darkness of the meat, but leaner. It was delightfully delicious. I paired that plate with a nice dry Pinot Nero. The desserts looked amazing, there were many sounds of delight as others enjoyed them. Due to the richness of my plates I had to pass, but opted for a glass of the the Sicilian delight, Zibibbo. Highly recommend having a meal here.

Arrived without a reservation on a Sunday around 13:00 and my lucky stars were aligned. They gave me a table in a spot separate from the main dining room, with only four tables, next to the kitchen’s entrance which could not be seen or heard!
My three alternating servers were so polite, knowledgeable and had my back covered from start to finish. Not once did I feel abandoned which is usually the case with solo diners, so a big thank you to all of you.
The ribollita was warm, had the right thickness and texture, and flavorful earthy overtones.
The ‘jugged deer’ (cervo al salmi) a dish from the Valtellina region in Northern Lombardy was a once in a lifetime chance to try it since deer is not served at all where I live. Well marinated, tender and juicy. I just wished I had been given a choice on how would I have liked it cooked..it was served rare but I would have preferred it medium rare. Regardless it went down smoothly and not a morsel was left. The fried polenta with celeriac sauce that it came with was the perfect accompaniment, offering a slightly sweet contrast to the gamey flavor.
A glass of Brunello di Montalcino was the right pairing.
The only choice of water were giant size bottles of aqua naturale, and full size carafes of aqua panna, which always make me feel guilty to leave half of it behind. It would be thoughtful on their part if they were to offer smaller serving for solo diners.
If you have time and want a laugh, please check the wall art in one of the rest rooms, posted here because it was just the write note to hit as I left this nice place on my last day in Florence.

You heard about this place. It combines tradition with innovation. It attracts crowds. You wonder if it will disappoint. I did. No, oh no, it did not disappoint. It is truly excellent. My seafood crudo on a marinade of grapes was incredible, and the ravioli of wild board with a cheese foam? Wow. So try to get a reservation, lunch is much easier to get.

We stopped here for lunch and really enjoyed the cozy, intimate vibe — a bit of a hidden gem tucked away from the main crowds. The menu changes seasonally, and every dish we tried was a delight. We Tried the fish and spaghetti dishes along with a glass of wine — all well-prepared and nicely presented. The service was relaxed and friendly, making it a pleasant midday break in Florence. A lovely spot if you’re looking for something authentic yet unpretentious.

Christmas eve lunch here was perfecto. We had the specials which was the pink peppercorn steak that was very rare but deliciously seared, bean stew that felt like home and a special pan friedpasta with rabbit and lemon zest ! The vibe and price is good. Service is excellent, friendly and communicative.

We loved the orange blossom Pana cotta at the end that was fragrant, light and christmassy.

Wow. What a meal. Setting was casually classy. Atmosphere was buzzy and cool. Service was excellent. All food (main meal and dessert) were fantastic. Pics don’t do it justice. A must visit. 3 x main meal, sparkling water, 1 glass of wine, 1 bottle of wine, 3 x desserts cost €130.

We absolutely love this spots for locals. Had such an amazing lunch that we returned to their wine bar next door and for dinner. It gets packed so go early. Great service – filled with locals which we love. If they are packed and you have to wait you can grab a bottle of wine next door at their wine bar. Worth the wait!!

Wonderful restaurant.
Completely different from what you usually find.
Sophisticated dishes with a modern touch and very good quality products.

Their burrata with spinach is excellent; as a tip, I would suggest that the spinach be served freshly sautéed hot with the burrata on top.

Their chicken pâté is incredible.
Their pasta is sophisticated, but they also have very tasty and elaborate dishes like their squid ink pasta with fennel, very delicious, and their carpaccio, very good. As a recommendation, I would flatten it more so that it becomes even finer on a larger plate; there’s no need for more raw material.

Their desserts are very good and elaborately prepared.

We went twice in 4 days of stay in Florence.

That says a lot…
I will return!!

We had a nice dinner in this restaurant. Reservation highly recommended. Food was super good. The octopus was my personal highlight. The Tatar was for my taste a little bit “boring”. Service was top. Overall a good experience and highly recommended.
