If you’ve ever driven down Sunset in Rocklin, you might’ve noticed this interesting pagoda-like building. It holds a hidden gem that punches way above it’s weight. The pictures speak for themselves. It’s some really good sushi, both in looks and in taste.

We recently moved to Rocklin, and scoped out the local restaurants for a celebratory lunch. We settled on this one because we spent too long looking and ran into the traditional pre-dinner close timeframe, and this one stayed open straight through.

It’s located on a nice quiet intersection with some very good arborists. The bright marble-and-black aesthetic makes this a nice place to spend a springtime afternoon. We ate inside, but the patio seemed like a nice option.

We were quickly seated by the very friendly staff, got to grazing on some butter garlic edamame, and settled in on the extensive menu. This is a full-service Japanese restaurant; they’ve got bentos, ramen, donburi, teppanyaki, and of course sushi and nigiri. We admittedly honed in on the “House Special” menu because of the big 50% off tag in the corner. Moving ain’t cheap, and a deal’s a deal.

And these turned out to be some good deals. Luscious seared Wagyu on the “OMG” roll, a clever and bright mango-based sauce on the Placer roll, a peppery kick on the Spicy Girl roll, and a refreshing medley of fish on the “never try never know” roll. Each one was thoughtfully crafted with quality ingredients. I would’ve paid full price and some change for all of these.

What really got us on the hook for the next visit was the “Dezato” roll; it’s like if someone crossed a creampuff and a rice crispy treat and wrapped it in a nice strawberry-flavored package. It was a perfect little finisher.

By the end, we were perfectly full, and after getting the bill, perfectly satisfied. We’ve definitely done a lot more damage on the wallet for a meal like this.

As an intro as to what kind of cuisine Rocklin has to offer, this was a knockout in my book. With food like this, I’m glad to be in the neighborhood.

Situated in an unassuming corner lot, this is some of the best sushi in the Sacramento area. The interior is a bit of a surprise once you come, looks renovated and feels spacious with the high vaulted ceilings. I’ve been here 3 times now and everything has been excellent every time. I can only comment on the raw items, though. Presentation is beautiful and fish quality is superb. Flavors are distinct and fresh. For those in the know, they serve real fresh wasabi here! Service is always swift and thoughtful. I do wish they’d do oysters during the week because they are wicked delicious, but I do understand this place is a bit of a hidden gem away from large commerce centers so not a lot of foot traffic for weekdays.

Ikura steps up the level of sushi in Rocklin/Roseville. The fish is consistently fresh and beautiful. The dishes are creative and delicious pieces of art. Great lunch specials and bento boxes too.

Back with an expanded menu!

I’ve been here a handful of times. But, it is absolutely the best quality and experience you can get. I really wish more people would be funneled here. It’s actually worth it. If you’re reading this. And you want an authentic, high quality, traditional experience—look no further. This is the spot. I mean, who the hell can get 2pc Pacific Blues at only $6. And yes, they serve pickled and fresh wasabi. Solid place. Do not miss out. Mikuinis is garbage compared to this.

My second time here. And will be back over and over. Their sushi is delicious, very generous cuts of fish and looks very high end! I’ll be telling everyone about this place! Everyone is also very welcoming and knowledgeable!

Visited this place that newly opened about a week ago, last night. It was very clean and cute setting. The staff was very friendly as well.

Because it was new, we decided to try a variety of items on the menu. Everything was amazing! This comment is coming from a sushi snob Lol. They also had some good Japanese beer options to go nicely with the food.

Whatever the desert roll was that had cheesecake, was sooooo good.

Definitely will be a regular spot for our family.

I’ve ordered both take out and dine-in. The food has always been amazing. The packaging (take out) and presentation (dine-in) have always been high quality. The lunch specials are well priced. I eat a lot of sushi, and the quality here really stands out.

As this is a newly opened eatery, I enjoyed a less crowded place to get food. I was shocked when I got my teriyaki bento box. I had 3 pieces of salmon, so I was very surprise. The shrimp tempura is very full and much different texture, and the breading is more unique. My salad and miso soup came out before my bento box so I liked enjoying those items separately from the box.
The ambience was very nice clean store, newly remodeled. Staff is knowledgeable of the dishes and provided great service.
Hope people can try this place out and find unique Japanese cuisine.
