We visited The Hyde-A-Way Catfish Inn and overall had a good experience, but there are a few important things to know ahead of time:
• Payment: They only accept cash or check, no debit or credit cards. Make sure you come prepared with cash!
• Drink Refills: You are charged for every drink refill, and the server does not mention this. They’ll ask if you want a refill and bring it, but each one adds to your bill. That part was disappointing, as we weren’t informed in advance.
• Prices:
• The All-You-Can-Eat Catfish Fillets were about $18.85, so roughly $19 per person after tax.
• The 3-piece catfish plate was $15.
• Plates came with beans, coleslaw, and fries — although the fries were cold, the catfish fillets were hot and fresh.
• Menu Note: They did not have catfish steaks available at the time of our visit. For those who don’t know, catfish steaks have bones, while the fillets are boneless.
Besides the unexpected charge for drink refills, everything else was solid. The food was good, the atmosphere was laid-back, and it made for a nice little outing. Just be prepared with cash and ask about any extra charges up front!

The atmosphere was great. The people were very friendly. Service animal friendly was great. The fish pond in the back was awesome. The kids loved it. They give out free food to give the fish in the back pond. There’s some big ones in there. Didn’t see the turtles though. Lol. The staff was great. The customers were friendly and very accepting of my service animal. No complaints, only compliments. Had a great time. The family did, too. Would go back there again.

The grands enjoyed feeding the fish and turtles. The baked beans were amazing – and I typically do not like baked beans. The food is deep fried, but still good.

In all the years we have visited and ate at Hydes I have to say this afternoon was a bust. The fish had a sour taste and dark stringy pieces in the fillet. Very disappointed. Over all our experiences have been good just not this time. We told the cashier but she said nothing had changed, tasted like it had been marinated in buttermilk. :-(((

Food was amazing as ever, The owner was super friendly and helpful. Waitress was very good at her job. Noone at my table wanted or waited for anything., our party was 13 people. She was on top of it all. They even hid a cake in the kitchen for My mother’s Birthday an brought it out for us at the conclusion of our meal. Mom had the best Birthday dinner in years. Everyone else joyed themselves, enjoyed the great food, and total experience. We will return many more times In the future.

This fish house has been here for years. It’s hard to find if you’re not from the area. A dimond in the rough. Open only on Fridays thru Sundays. They serve all you can eat or take out. Take out is by the pound. In the warmer months, you could go out to the pond right next to the restaurant and feed the fish. The inside is very vintage rustic. I would suggest getting there when they open at 4pm. This place fills up fast and parking can be nonexistent. The photo is of the entrance.

Am a 1st timer to Missouri and especially Catfish and I tell you what! I was really really good. A light moist, breaded deep fried filet. Topped off with fresh onions or their homemade tartar sauce baked beans tangy honey flavor with home style coleslaw with fries & little hushpuppy was a top choice.
Didn’t try the shrimp ( Allergy reasons) My mother in law said it was really tasty. Service and hospitality was amazing. Id for sure go back.

The fried catfish was good, but $24 per person for all you can eat with a drink was a little pricey for us. Also, they don’t have much to offer in caffeine free drinks. I love feeding the fish in the pond.

So salty you couldn’t eat it. No pepsi to drink. Only had 3 hushpuppys the hole time there for 5 people. Worst ever seen. Used be good not anymore. Fish over cooked. Spent close to 100$ won’t happen again. Think about it people. 20 bucks plate not worth it.
