The food was as consistent and impressive as ever. We loved the Chili Prawns—crispy, spicy, and perfectly balanced. Even the fried rice, which I took home, was delicious the next day. But the real surprise was the dessert. We tried the Hong Kong Tiramisu and the Soy Bean Cheesecake. They were both incredibly light, creamy, and not too sweet, easily rivaling any trendy dessert spot in NYC. Honestly, Hutong should consider an afternoon tea service featuring these gems!
The Peking duck is always a solid choice, and they even do table-side service if you order a whole one. Don’t sleep on the Seafood Cone appetizer either—it’s a flavorful, crispy little roll. A reliably great spot for quality Chinese food in Manhattan.
The menu felt thoughtful and indulgent, and every dish was well executed. The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, making it a great spot for a friends’ gathering or special night out. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, we’ll definitely be back!
And it is the dream always to get the duck well served and prepared, now almost better than in Xian. And the crispy pork but tira misu was even tastier…thank you!!!
Our absolute favorites
– Kung Po Iberico Pork: The most tender pork with a surprising apple twist!
– Chef’s Dim Sum: Almost too beautiful to eat.
– Hong Kong Milk Tea Tiramisu: A nostalgic fusion treat you can’t miss.
Perfect for date night or a fancy Midtown gathering. Hutong remains one of the most stunning dining rooms in NYC.
From the moment you walk in, the architecture and interior design are stunning. The space is classy, intimate, and low-key, yet still incredibly elegant. The ambiance feels intentional—never loud or chaotic—just beautifully curated and perfect for conversation and special moments.
I first visited with two friends during happy hour just to get a feel for the space, and the food was outstanding. Every bite was memorable, and it immediately stood out as a place worth returning to for a special dinner.
For the main evening, I had a reservation for a party of 12, and the hospitality truly set Hutong apart. With winter weather expected, the team was proactive and thoughtful—confirming the reservation and reassuring me that there would be no cancellation fee if plans needed to change. That level of care did not go unnoticed.
Service that night was exceptional. Shoutout to Charlie, who was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and professional without ever being intrusive. He clearly led the room, and the rest of the staff matched that same level of care. Glasses were always full, timing was seamless, and even guests who arrived later were seated smoothly without disrupting the flow of the evening.
One of the standout moments was when the chef personally came out to present and flame the roasted duck tableside—an incredible visual and dining experience that felt equal parts performance and perfection.
To end the night, I ordered dessert of my choice, but the team surprised us by bringing out a specialty dessert and singing happy birthday. It was unbelievably delicious—truly one of those “how is this this good?” moments. Charlie even shared a personal story about the soy-based ice cream accompanying the dessert, explaining that it was something he grew up with, which made the moment feel intimate and heartfelt. It genuinely felt like a family-style dinner, full of warmth, care, and joy.
The food, the service, the atmosphere—flawless across the board. Every detail felt intentional. A true 10/10 experience. I honestly wish I could rewind the night and experience it all over again. We will absolutely be back
Overall we enjoyed our meal at Hutong and will definitely return.
We started off with drinks, which were decent, and then onto the food OMG, the flavors were amazing! The portions were generous and everything tasted so fresh and well-seasoned.
Appetizers were the vegetable spring rolls and pork dumplings a perfect start. For our mains, we tried the spicy chicken, spicy beef (we were warned it was hot, but to a Trinidadian and African American spice level, it was more like a 5), and the vegetable rice.
Half chile peppers and barely any chicken in “spicy chicken” is pointless it’s just a bowl of peppers with a chicken suggestion.
Everything was delicious, flavorful, and satisfying. Overall, a 9.3/10 — Yummy!
Must-tries:
Sichuan-Style Spicy Stir-Fried Lobster – crispy shell, tender lobster, like Chinese lobster popcorn.
Fresh Squid Blossoms – super tender with an amazing house-made chili sauce.
Soy Milk Cheesecake – delicate, lightly sweet, very unique.
Would definitely recommend.
