Went during lunch the day before thanksgiving so it was not crowded. The server brought out waters and never asked if we wanted anything else to drink. Maybe she forgot but I drink water anyway so no big deal for me. Ordered the chicken Makhani (not on the menu). It was very tasty. Should of requested more than mild on the spicy level. The server was very friendly and the place was clean. I’m still new to Indian cuisine but this place is worth a try.

Had yummy chicken biryani and mutton sukka from here. Very tasty food. Very good quantity too! I expected a lesser price though, but cant complain… very friendly staff and spacious clean set up! Over all great experience. 🙂

EDIT: Third time’s a charm. After two less than ideal visits, I have since had good experiences here (though they were out of ice most recent visit). Glad I gave them a third chance. The weekend lunch specials and daily quick lunch are great options

The food was just ok in my opinion and the service was no better. My wife and I both had the Thali, I had the vegetarian my wife had the non-vegetarian. The food was acceptable but not temperature hot. The first thing I had was the rasam which while acceptable was tepid at best, understand here that I am not one of those people who likes to burn their mouth on their food, my family has made fun of me since I was a kid that I waited to start eating my food until the food was almost body temperature (they said it a little differently), so when I say it’s not very warm that’s saying something. Then when we went to pay there was no-one to be found. We, the people in front of us and us, waited 5 or so minutes and walked all over the establishment until someone finally showed up.

Nobody asked us what we wanted they just brought us two bottles of water. The curry we got was like soup. They didn’t ask us what we wanted to order they just said, “we’re just gonna bring this out.” They wanted to charge us $14 per person. So we just ordered something to go and left. Lots of random Indian men walking around aimlessly. I don’t know if they were working there or just hanging out. I suggest if you eat here, order to go, it’s very awkward in there.

Great, fresh and tasty food. Must visit if you are craving for South Indian good. Even idli and mehenduvada was freshly made. Nice and clean environment and great service.

I don’t normally post negative comments, but today we ordered from Amma’s Indian Cuisine on Basswood for the first time. We did takeout. When we got home we felt robbed. The Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) was not even sufficient and swimming in sauce. They just threw some diced up chicken in the sauce. My husband ordered Mutton Curry. He got 4pcs of mostly bone. The only good think was the Samosa Chat. Beware of TakeOut. Check for quality before you leave.

Based on the reviews, I went in with an expectation I would get decent food. Ordered online for pickup. 15-20 minutes, so I head over there. When I arrive, they say 5 more minutes which turned into 15. Head home with my food: chicken tikka from the clay oven, chicken tikka masala, butter naan, and garlic naan. The clay oven and the chicken must have gotten mixed up because the pieces I received were worse than clay and hard as a brick. Inedible. Had to be thrown away. Disappointingly, the tikka masala also used the same chicken. While the sauce was ok, the chicken ruined it. Positive: white rice was decent. Naans were ok, nothing spectacular. Disappointing experience for a dinner visit. Maybe others will have a better experience.

July 2018 ~ Edit Note: Amma’s was temporarily closed for renovations. Now there’s Bombay Curry, with increased menu options, located inside the restaurant. It has increased the Vegan choices, as well.
