Stopped in on a whim with friends after Happy Hour in Columbia for the Holidays. It was a Tuesday night and we were seated quickly. Plenty of hot tea which is very nice. I am a shrimp toast aficionado and there toast is a 7.5 out of 10 which is pretty good.
All of our entrees were on point save for the General Tso’s chicken which was a bit over-cooked -> not terribly but overcooked all the same.
The service was polite but not overly friendly.
The portions were humongous like most Chinese establishments. Three of our four took food home. Finally the pricing, especially for Columbia in Howard County is very fair for what you are served.
We are seldom in this area but would happily return if we are.
They have ample free parking and their entryway lives up to its name – really transports you to an ancient Chinese manor! The space is also large and open, with many different sections – would be great for hosting events, family gatherings, or big group meals while still having some privacy.
Service was warm and attentive even during their soft opening, and the whole experience feels like a big step up for Hunan Manor. The owners also stopped by to check in to get feedback. If you’re a dim sum lover or curious about the revamped menu, this is definitely worth a visit – Columbia finally has a standout dim sum brunch and Chinese spot!
Went on a Monday at 6pm. Wasn’t too crowded
My typical go to for chinese food is Hot/Sour Soup and Beef Chow Fun (or Ho fun) and thats what I got during this visit. I was also surprised this place serves bubble tea so I got the Brown sugar bubble tea
In addition, they offer dim sum during certain times (which I hope to try one day)
Cleanliness: 5/5
Very clean and cool looking establishment. Love the statues and interior decor
Service: 5/5
Waiters were attentive and checked on me often
Food: 4/5
Hot tea was good
Hot and Sour soup was a little warm. Wish it was hot like the tea temp, but the flavor and the wonton strips were solid
Beef Chow Fun
Hot and fresh! Enough to serve 2-3 ppl. Very good, needs hot sauce to add a little kick
Brown Sugar bubble tea. Solid as well. A bit on the sweet side, but I enjoyed it
Overall, I recommend this place and look forward to trying their dimsum one day along with other dishes
The menu isn’t as extensive as it once was, but it still has a lot of tasty, authentic options (along with many of the Americanized classics).
It’s a great spot for larger parties too. You can fit 12 people at their larger round tables.
I brought several people there for the first time and we got spring rolls for the table. With the rolls they delivered some horseradish mustard. I like hot mustard but that stuff has always been strong. I warned the people at the table that it was strong, but every person that tried it wished that’s they had listened to me more about the horseradish mustard.
The cuisine is the “classic” American take on Chinese food, e.g. sesame chicken, sweet and sour pork, spicy cucumbers, etc.
The service is a bit slow, but the freshness and quality of the food makes the wait worth while. Cheers!
