I’d recommend trying this place if you haven’t been. The menu has lots of items, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

We got egg rolls (which for some reason I forgot to take a picture of) and they were very good.

Our meals were really good too. It was my mom and I who ate at the restaurant. We were in Rochester for appointments at the Mayo Clinic. We live in Mankato so a few times a year we’ll venture over to Rochester. This is a place that is high on our list for eating at while there.

One of the main waitresses is an older Asian lady and she’s super sweet and fun if she’s your server.

Definitely try this place!

Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

What a fantastic place. We came here again for a lovely meal and always try to get here once or twice a year. The food is great and the atmosphere is so pleasant. A very important aspect of this restaurant is the very friendly waiters and waitresses. Our favorite was working today! A very special restaurant for our town. Please try it!!

Visited this place for a quick dinner (Sat @ 5:30pm). It wasn’t crowded. The place is nice, clean, food was good and tasty. Service was very fast, friendly staff, we were in and out in 45 minutes. Quantity of food was good enough to fill us with some leftover. Price of dishes is very reasonable. On our way out, we saw too many takeouts that were ready to be picked up. May be lot of folks takeout from here. We drive to Rochester from MSP every 2-3 weeks, sometimes dine-in. We will visit this place again if we are in a mood to eat Chinese food. It is close to the Civic Ctr Dr, close to our destination and don’t have to drive far.

If you’re looking for better Chinese restaurant, try this one.

If you’ve been to LeeAnn Chin and had a bowl full of overcooked spaghetti in sugary syrup pretending to be an Asian dish, or one of many dilapidated Chinese restaurants serving frozen supermarket “Chinese” food… Come here and enjoy GOOD Chinese food, and generous portions, at great prices.

I brought my family (who are used to very authentic Chinese food in Mauritius where they are from) Everything was cooked fresh, well seasoned, and tasted far more authentic than any chain.

The Thai tea was excellent, and they serve crispy noodles with sauces while you order.

The staff was attentive, helpful, and very friendly.

Overall, it was a great experience. We will be back, and I’d strongly recommend it to anyone looking for something a little more authentic and high quality.

Omg, their chow fun! And their fried rice! The chow fun appears to have gotten an award for best food in Rochester and it’s so well deserved. Everything was delicious. They were very accommodating of my being vegan and even helped me work out choices to stay within my limited (homeless and currently vanlifing while working Grubhub, so funds are tight) budget! Such kind and courteous staff! The host truly made me feel welcome and I’ll for sure come back when I can (oh, and BTW, wanted to drop a quick shout out that the host was not only very sweet and friendly, but she also has really great style! 🙂 )

We have been going to Hunan Garden for years. It’s a great place with a fairly extensive and diverse menu. Prices are affordable, portions are really big, and the service from the friendly staff are world class. Highly recommend the next time you’re salivating for some General Tsos or just want some good ol’ Mapo Tofu over white, fluffy rice – cheers!

I stopped in for lunch while going to some appointments at Mayo Clinic. I had the mixed vegetables with chicken lunch special and it was delicious. All of the items; the won ton soup, crab Rangoon, chicken wings and the main dish were served hot and fresh. An excellent value and totally recommend. I’ll be back the next time I’m in town.

Appears Hunan on 7th is going down hill. Pepper Steak you would think is not that hard. First time the rice appear to have come off some one plate and steak was reheated. So many onions to try to cover up the reheat that it was awful. I complain and course apologize but I kind of stay away when I notice help sigh again. Couple of month, second time just yesterday. The rice was old and dry and clump together and barely any rice in the container. Hard dry grains mixed in with partial fresh rice. Like they were scraping the barrel. Lots of onions and raw hard bell peppers to make it look like you got a full order.
If I didn’t pay cash, this time I would have done a credit card charge back. Why pay for bad food. That’s it. On the hunt for someone knew to try. Don’t pay cash and check food before you leave for freshness and second hand left over from a table who didn’t eat all they food. Repackage it and put in the take out orders.

**Restaurant Review:**

If you’re looking for a place where service is as bad as the food is occasionally good, this Chinese restaurant is your perfect match.

Let’s start with the staff. The employees here seem to have completely forgotten the basic concept of decency and customer service. The attitude is rude, bordering on hostile. They’re in a rush to get you in and out of the door so they can move on to the next order, as if there’s a line of a billion people waiting outside. Newsflash: this isn’t China, and you’re not in a rush to feed the masses. The complete lack of patience and any semblance of hospitality makes you feel like an inconvenience rather than a paying customer.

As for the food, it’s a mixed bag. When they get it right, it’s actually quite good — but that’s where the problem lies. The consistency is awful. You could order Szechuan Chicken, expecting a spicy, bold dish with the right balance of flavors, and end up with something entirely different, like Ta’chin Chicken, or worse, just some random chicken stir-fried with whatever ingredients they had lying around. Missing condiments, ingredients, or details are common, and don’t even bother asking for adjustments — they’ll probably forget about it anyway. It’s honestly pathetic.

The restaurant would be great if they just took a bit of pride in what they serve and cared about the customers they’re supposed to be feeding. Unfortunately, the combination of a lack of service, rushed attitude, and inconsistency in the kitchen means you’re likely better off looking for other options. Would love to see a change in ownership or management, because the food has potential. Until then, I’ll keep looking for another place to get my fix of decent Chinese food.

The sesame chicken was INCREDIBLE. It’s nothing like the gooey dense stuff you get at other Asian restaurants. This stuff is crispy and fresh! And the eggrolls were nearly burrito size!! I love this place.

Service was great and you can tell the waitress loves working there. She was very attentive and lovely.

I haven’t been here since I was little, but it’s better than I remember.
