Hotaru, is a Japanese restaurant located in Solesta. A great discovery for me, as I love Asian food, I think it is the best of its kind in the whole Puebla area. The place is super intimate, and the architecture is top notch. You can sit on the outside, out of sight surrounded by foliage, or my favourite at the bar where you can watch the chefs prepare the delicious dishes. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. They have a great cocktail menu, and I personally loved the mezcal-based Amaterasu. The food is very good and of quality, the fish and shellfish are very fresh. The makis are very good as is the rest of the food. I had shrimp tempura, Red Dragon Roll, and the 7 varieties of Sashimi, all served with a glass of white wine. And to finish a little dessert, a green tea mochi. I highly recommend this place and I will certainly come back to visit.

Outstanding food & service
I have to say that I have tried many sushi places around the world and specially in Japan and this is the most amazing place to enjoy sushi in town.
I came with a couple of friends, the place is very small so we couldn’t have a table and we were a little bit feed up with the situation since we had a reservation buuut all was forgotten thanks to the chef and the hostess that made our night unforgettable.
Great place to visit while in Puebla. Only for real sushi lovers.

One of the best sushi restaurants in Puebla. A little bit expensive but worth it. Each food is so detailed prepared and so exquisite that your mouth melts.

The waiter Israel was friendly, gave us good orientation of which dishes to choose, though we almost tried the whole menu (everything we choose was great) we couldn’t even take pictures, as soon as the food came we couldn’t resist to try it.

Excellent service since the moment we entered the restaurant, clean and cozy. I went there last weekend with a large party, the waitress was outstanding with her service and attitude always checking if we wanted anything else, the food was amazing, very tasty and well prepared. Certainly the best restaurant of authentic Japanese food, surely I’ll visit you again when I get back to Mexico. The only reason I don’t give you the 5 stars is because it was clear that the waitress was struggling to attend all the tables by herself and we didn’t saw anybody else attending the other tables. Regardless of that the service was chef’s kiss and the food was served pretty quickly. Keep up the good work!

Wow, I’ve eaten a lot of nigiri and sushi this – every single piece I was outstanding. My top were chutoro, salmon esques and really any of the tuna haha. The spider roll was phenomenallll and I typically don’t prefer spider rolls. Chill vibes and great service!

My sister and I were excited to try the omakase at Hotaru during our holiday visit to Puebla, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. While omakase experiences are typically adaptable to dietary restrictions with advance notice, Hotaru fell short. My sister doesn’t eat red meat, and despite the menu offering both shrimp and short rib gyoza, they refused to switch out the short rib gyoza in the second course for a shrimp one.
Beyond the inflexibility, the sushi quality itself was subpar for a high-end establishment in the city. Nothing stood out as particularly memorable or impressive. To add to our frustrations, the service was lacking. The staff weren’t particularly attentive or accommodating, and our bottle of Chablis was even served warm. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Hotaru.
