Who is actually very surprising good considering the location. They have these combos you can pick up for about $16 with a ton of food. Very authentic tasty food for relatively cheap prices. Almost comparable to something you would get in New York. Plus it’s got a full bar in the back

We were skeptical to try this place after reading reviews and chose to anyway. I’m writing a review because I feel like its necessary to combat some of the stuff previously posted.

The atmosphere was fantastic! The was surprising, especially after being underwhelmed by the exterior.

The service was definitely the best part. Our server was attentive without being over bearing and he was so kind and funny!

Our food was standard American Chinese food. Portions were huge! and the flavors were well orchestrated. The turn around time from ordering to receiving our food was quick! It wasn’t too busy for a holiday evening and the little bar area was quite lively.

We will certainly be returning!

Really amazing service and atmosphere!! The man that was serving us was incredibly attentive and kind. We ordered the Gao Chicken and Chicken lo mein. I wished the lo mein noodles were a bit thinner, but the sauce and everything else was good, not oily at all. Gao Chicken was also pretty yummy, although one piece was a bit tough.

Overall, I’d say it’s a great place for when you’re craving Chinese food. If you want luxury dining then obviously don’t come to a Chinese restaurant.

First of all I never like leaving a negative review except when one is well deserved.
I have been going to this restaurant for over 27 years and the previous owner held it down great. I ordered take out food AD2 Thursday night and I placed the order from the bar as no one was at the front desk. Went in ordered the food from Vinnie (bartender) and had a drink while waiting. Drink was good, get home to eat my food and noticed the rice looked like oatmeal mush… tried a bite and it was so gross tasted like it was 2 weeks old and reconstituted with water and microwaved. Crab rangoon were the only thing fresh as the egg foo young tasted old as well.
I called the HK to complain to them about my findings and they questioned where I ordered the food from meaning the bar or the kitchen. I told them the bar so they transferred me to the bar and I spoke to Vinnie and he apologized stating he would give me a free rice next time I visit. My understanding is it appears they sell the old outdated food to bar patrons who they assume maybe to intoxicated to realize so they deflected it to the bar…. not a good business practice and probably my last time ordering anything from there…. I will say many eateries have gone downhill since the pandemic and it is sad…..save your money, stomach and health! Gross food! Beware!

Ordered two all day specials – General Gau Chicken and Sesame Chicken. Both dinners were inedible with basically just fried batter and a few tiny pieces of dark meat. One meal even melted through the food container by the time we brought it home. Rice was very lackluster. Would not recommend.

The food used to be good there now some things arent right. The duck sauce tastes funny, the steak teriyaki wasnt cooked through, found plastic in the pork fried rice….and that was one combo meal.

Food is trash and sickening. I used to come here for some time now while working in the Chelmsford area. And I noticed that I’ve gotten sick every time after eating the food. Last week on 12/08/25 I missed two days worth of work because I ate this food for lunch and got a really bad food poisoning wasn’t able to fully consume other food without thinking on what got me sick until today 12/14 I will never come back! And I recommend that you don’t too skeptical of coming here? , then so be because you will get sick and your stomach will cramp ! You’ll be screaming in pain 🙁

Note: Review is for the lounge.

The Hong & Kong Restaurant in Chelmsford is a local, iconic establishment. Generations of local families were introduced to Chinese food here through the decades. The vintage decor and fish tanks remain.

Bar is beautifully decorated (look at the ceiling!) and service was fast and efficient. One of the only late night bars in town. Recommended.

Stopped in here thanks to a Google search for restaurants and Google did not disappoint! The food was fresh, and hot, and came out in a timely manner. The staff member who waited on us was extremely pleasant and prompt with service. If I was back in Chelmsford again I would definitely stop here for food!

Maybe this used to be a staple on the Chinese food dive bar circuit and bless you for keeping the tradition rolling…but there are few endearing qualities to recommend stopping here for food, drink, or entertainment. I’ve tried many items over lunch and dinner and regretted spending money on it every time. It’s either undercooked, overcooked, old, bad tasting, funky, chewy, or some combination of these. $10+ for a mixed drink in a rocks glass!?! That should have been an immediate red flag but I kept trying. It’s just not working. I dig the old school vibe and the dingy, dark American Chinese decor, but there is negative value for price. If you got some spare Keno cash you want to sacrifice then I guess this isn’t a bad option.
