Unfortunately, the food just did not live up to the appearance.
The pancakes were overly sweet — to the point where it overpowered everything else. Instead of tasting homemade or balanced, it felt more like eating dessert first thing in the morning. The eggs also were flavorless and just not enough salt. There wasn’t much depth of flavor, and everything just kind of tasted flat underneath the sweetness.
We also left feeling really bloated and uncomfortable, which isn’t what you want after breakfast. It just felt heavy and not in a satisfying way.
I really wanted to love this place because it looks so nice, but for us, the flavor just wasn’t there. Maybe others will enjoy the sweeter style, but it wasn’t for us.
Their menu is loaded with amazing eats! It was hard to choose, so I narrowed it down to their breakfast burrito and their corned beef hash and asked my server which to go with… She said the corned beef hash, so that’s what I went with.
Food came out reasonably quick and this meal was absolutely HUGE!!! Enough food for 2 people!! The beed was great, hardly any fat and lots of great flavor. The layers of potatoes, meat, cheese, onions, and peppers was spot on and made a great flavor in every bite. But those pancakes were probably some of the best I’ve ever had! So fluffy, thick but not dense, and flavorful!
Overall, lots of choices and great food… Definitely worth stopping in!
The vegan breakfast sandwich is nasty. Did anyone in R&D taste it before adding it to the menu? I like all of the ingredients listed, except, what is “honeyberry sauce”? It solidified on the sandwich and was like a piece of taffy getting stuck in my teeth. The “marinated tofu” was flavorless and a terrible texture. I took 2 bites and couldn’t keep going. Our server said nothing about my full plate and I had already sent back 2 juices so wasn’t really trying to complain more. In hindsight, I should have because unfortunately, paid for the inedible sandwich. Icing on the cake was after we handed our card over to pay, my husband noticed a hair in his hash browns. So after paying, ultimately did end up telling our server at the bar about the unfortunate sandwich and hairy potatoes. His reaction was a nasty face and offered us a drink to go? Like no? Remember the juice debacle we had earlier? Why would a drink fix this issue? I would have preferred the option to escalate this situation with a manager if he didn’t have the power to reverse payment. Instead we declined a drink to go and he said “OK, sorry, have a good day.” woof.
I rarely complain, and usually have low expectations for restaurant chains. But this experience was exceptionally disappointing. I would not recommend Honey Berry to anyone, nor would I go back. I would also suggest consulting a vegan to help troubleshoot the limited vegan options so they’re actually enjoyable. And perhaps be transparent about the “freshness” of your menu items and descriptions.
Would definitely go here again on my next road trip!!
