I found Homecoming Southern Kitchen when I was out on an evening walk. I hadn’t had dinner yet, so I decided to stop in. The atmosphere is incredible! It’s an interesting mix of chandeliers and skulls… Just my style! I ordered The chicken and biscuits starter, knowing that I also want to dessert. It came as three chicken sliders and was so good! They had a nice mix of sauces, and of course honey! And then for dessert I ordered the banana pudding… And it came in the most unusual way! I’ve never seen banana pudding presented like this! As an extra treat, they came around and served freshly baked rolls with a homemade honey butter which was fantastic!

I am frustrated. It could be excellent with a little more effort. I had the chicken fried steak. The steak and gravy were awesome, coleslaw was good, but very small portions. I was very disappointed that a $23 entre did not include potato. My wife’s chicken sandwich came with the same slaw and fries and was $8 cheaper! And about that sandwich. The chicken was good, not hot at all for calling it Nashville. BUT the bun was stale. Brioche buns do not go stale quickly. It has to have been a week old. The service was ok, nothing special. It is a cool looking place, but crazy noisy even at 25% full. They need some sound deadening.

My lunch was delicious, creamy Mac and cheese and super crispy fried chicken. The server/bartender Miguel was prompt, informative and kind. I came in from a walk, very hot and he, without asking, gave me a glass of ice water and the menu to review. I don’t understand the negative reviews posted. My cocktails were well made, It’s gorgeous inside, and the prices are on par with the other places I’ve visited on my trip to Utah.

Ordered a chicken sandwich. $16. No flavor and the chicken was super thin. Looked like a frozen patty. No flavor either. Fries were really good. Also ordered a sweet tea for $4 and it tasted old. The service was okay. $20 plus tip for a sandwich that was worse than McDonalds, won’t be back.

Okay so, from the south originally so I knew I’d be somewhat biased but this was just awful. Our server was extremely kind but seemed overwhelmed. We only saw her and one other guy, a host. Management nowhere in sight. We waited over an hour and a half for our food. Portions were small and how are you going to call yourself a southern kitchen and yet you don’t have mashed potatoes??? No sides (except for the saddest most flavorless cole slaw you’ve ever seen in your life) on a $25 plate of food??? Everyone at our table’s food was burnt and dry. One of our party’s chicken fried steak was cooked black and rendered literally inedible. I got the buttermilk fried chicken, which was dry and served on a plain piece of toast. No gravy, no sauce, nothing. I only ate about half of it because by the time the food arrived I was ravenous. They shouldn’t be allowed to call themselves a southern kitchen, because as a southerner, you’re literally better off going to Cracker Barrel (where they at least have mashed potatoes and gravy). Don’t go here.

Was excited to have some good southern food and we really enjoyed our dinner. We got the chicken biscuits which were amazing! Crispy chicken in yummy biscuits with a honey drizzle, yum! Got the Prime Rib too. Nice Smokey flavor and super tender. For sides we got collard greens, Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes. Big sides! But we wanted to try them all. Collards are a must! Service was great! Food came out quickly and everyone thanked us for coming in. Will be back!

I’m from the south. Born and raised. So I know Meatloaf. The bacon wrapped meatloaf was amazing. Kyle took good care of us and everyone else pitched in. Great experience.
