Great experience. If you don’t mind sitting inside, there is no wait even when it’s busy. The line keeps moving quickly anyway, so don’t be discouraged. Service is quick and you’re stuffing your face full of good food quickly. You have to get the blue fin ceviche. Grilled oysters with the bourbon butter was great and they come in fours. We got the 24 raw oysters for $82 and it was a perfect amount for two people. You have to try to clam chowder! The sweet watermelon beer was very tasty.

Venturing into Hog Island Oyster Co. with my wife and rambunctious toddler in tow, I half-expected a seafood showdown, but boy was I shell-shocked! The oysters, fresher than my toddler after a nap, slid down easier than a bedtime story. The ambiance? Let’s just say if oysters had living rooms, they’d want them to look like this. And the staff? They catered to our every whim, showing the patience of a saint when little Timmy decided to demonstrate his ‘seafood dance’. 10/10 would recommend. If you don’t visit, you’re simply clams out of luck!

One of my must visit in SF. We went during lunch on a Saturday this time. It was packed, of course. However, if you have a small party, they will try to seat you if you have your entire party there.

Pretty pricey (though that seems to be SF in general) but fairly good food. We got a few items to share which were all delicious, especially the halibut crudo (pretty sure that’s the best I’ve ever had). Oysters were good but very pricey. Fried anchovies I was skeptical about trying but actually turned out pretty good. I ordered the steamers with pasta for entree and they give a lot of clams and chorizo but it ended up being pretty salty. Overall good experience though.

Sooooo good. We could not stop ordering food. Everything we had was so delicious. The raw oysters were fresh and addicting. The two types of cooked oysters we tried were packed with flavor and made me want more. The asparagus salad was both refreshing and tasty. Fries were simple and delectable. Mussels were ridiculous. I loved everything.

Worth the wait!!! One of our most favorite places to eat in the bay! We have been coming here for decades. Usually we grab coffee, do a walk around the farmers market, and then get in line 15-20 minutes before they open to ensure getting the first seating and not having to wait in line for 45 to an hour most times. We managed to get all 18 of us seated and they accommodated seating us on two tables next to each other. Oysters, clam chowder, grilled cheese are musts, and on this past Saturday they had a special Halibut. Their clam chowder is much less thick than most, but just as rich, creamy, and has tons of clams in the shell that make for the most delicious tasting soup, their grilled cheese goes perfectly to dip with the soup and is oozing with several cheeses and perfectly crispy on the outside. Pair all of this with a great Bloody Mary or a bottle of Chardonnay, it makes the perfect lunch for a sunny Saturday in San Francisco at the ferry building.

The location is definitely beautiful! My husband is a big fan of their clam chowder. The cream is on point! He also had their daily oyster flight that offered a good variety. I had a market salad, pretty strong dijon flavor. The old bay fries were good. We were disappointed in the micheladas. I could not taste much of anything. It seemed like there was a little beer and michelada mix and it was topped with soda water.

This place was recommended to me by several people, and it did not disappoint! Only downside is finding parking nearby, but that’s to be expected for any place within the Ferry building. We arrived around 6pm on a Tuesday night and there was a line to be seated. We were in line for about 5 minutes before we got a spot on the patio since we only had 2 adults (and one baby) in our party. Service was super quick, our drinks came out in 2 mins and our food maybe 5 minutes after we ordered it. The oysters were fresh and amazing, the fries seasoned perfectly, and the clam chowder was good, but different from most. It was very soupy, not chowder-esque. Had lots of mussels so took time to eat. Overall the experience was amazing with fresh food, quick service and incredible views!

The oysters were great, however, I only got the Hog Island Sweetwater Oysters. Mussels with Pasta was also very good, but a friend of mine who got the shrimp & chips wasn’t too impressed as it was too salty. Additionally the service was okay at best. Nevertheless, if I ever drop by Hog Island Oyster Co. again, I would definitely get the Calabrian Chili Grilled Oysters.

Great fresh oysters, amazing seafood, drinks are okay, and service can be better. This place is definitely worth the long wait. Sitting outside is definitely recommended. I go to this place all the time and on Saturdays, they have a booth with fresh oysters that you do not need to wait for.
