Himalayan Spice Bistro – Authentic Indian Cuisine in Fernie
Himalayan Spice Bistro in Fernie, BC
Reviews
The Kashmir Lamb Rogan Josh had a smooth spice flavour, different than typical Indian cuisine. The sauce had a taste of tomato sauce, I wish it was less tomato like taste. But it was tasty.
We also had the Baigan Bharta, that was one of the best I’ve had. We could taste the eggplant and the right amount of Himalayan spice, not over powering. Well done chef.
Old fashion moment- the restaurant has their own version of Old Fashion, they call it old soul sour, and that was a nice twist on this drink. It had spices and nice fresh flavour. It loses points because they don’t serve it with one cube of ice, which is a big no no for such a beautiful drink.
Their Masala Chai was nice and smooth as well, not too sweet.
The atmosphere was nice, friendly and relaxed. We had two guys sitting next to us who were moving in and out of speaking English and another language, likely a Scandinavian one, but we couldn’t figure it out. If you were one of those guys, please let me know what that language was. It definitely got our attention… the language that is !
Himalayan Spice Bistro completely exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a wonderful evening.
We started with their summer cocktails—so fresh, creative, and dangerously delicious that we ended up ordering five of them . Yes, they were that good… so good we might just have to come back next week for another round! Shout out to “a bit of hibikiss” we had two of those featuring smoky Mezcal
For dinner, the Mango Chicken was an absolute standout—perfectly cooked, tender chicken in a rich, slightly sweet sauce with just the right hint of spice. And if you love smoky, bold flavors, the Tandoori is a must-try—beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Every bite was bursting with authentic flavor, and the presentation was just as stunning as the taste. The service? Outstanding—attentive, friendly, and full of genuine care. You can feel the passion in every detail.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Himalayan cuisine or a curious first-timer, this place is a gem. ️ ✨ We’ll absolutely be back!
Food is great! And the Indian stay cocktails offer a nice change.
Definitely recommend
The food portions were much smaller than before, and the taste wasn’t the same at all. The service was also very poor — the staff didn’t bring trays or serving spoons, and they carried dishes in their hands instead. When we were placing our order, the server seemed to be in a hurry and didn’t really listen to what we were saying.
We were really disappointed, especially since we drove an hour all the way from Cranbrook just to enjoy the food here. Sadly, this visit didn’t meet our expectations at all, and I hope the management looks into improving both food quality and service.
Really enjoyed the food here as we were traveling and just wanted something other than the typical burgers and hot dogs you’d have while camping. Stopped in and ordered a bunch of food and brought back to the camp site to eat.
Food was good and full of flavour; only reason I did not give a 5 star rating was because every chicken dish we ordered, the chicken was extremely dry and perhaps overcooked. I understand breast is traditionally more dry compared to dark meat, however, I’d expect a restaurant to be able to cook a tender chicken breast. Other than that, everything was good.
Service was excellent and very accommodating. I was extremely happy that they actually did take away vs many of the other restaurants in the area who advertised they do, however, in fact do not offer take away service.
