Menu has some unique like potatoes on pizza. There are plenty of vegetarian options. The entil soup was vegetarian and good. Potions are plentiful. Both the soup and pizza were served extremely hot. Do not dig in when your food arrives or you will burn your mouth. Atmosphere is very rustic.

We ordered two pies. Pepperoni and potato spinach. The Pepperoni was delicious! Great crust. The potato spinach was burnt but the owner was outstanding and graciously refunded our money. We also got a slice of pumpkin pie and a slice of pecan pie both made fresh and were delicious. The restaurant is in a cool old building. I really liked it!

In full disclosure, I didn’t get pizza. But after looking at the menu I daresay it won’t be long before I had back for it.

I’m here to talk about pie. Delicious, custardy, brown sugar, cruncy, flakey, melting, pecan, and I mean pea-can pie. If you can translate this message you are already on your way to get some. Well done Hillbottom, you should change your name to Hilltop with sinful pies like these. See ya again soon!

So Hillbottom Pie is an interesting place, and I really struggle with how to review it. I’ll just give the pros and cons.

Pros: Outstanding pizzas. Their Italian Sausage is excellent. They used to have a salami that was amazing but have discontinued it for some reason. Great salads and soups.

Cons:
1.) The service! Yikes. The woman who usually runs the front (I’m not sure If she’s the owner or not) can be a bit chilly. It’s as if she’s bothered that you’re taking her time. It’s definitely a business transaction instead of a pleasant meal.

2.) They don’t do half-bake pizzas to go. “Just no! We don’t do that,” after I simply asked. Ok… Yikes. I’ll just, um, shut up…

They don’t do half-and-half pizzas either.

3.) They are constantly changing their hours and no one really knows if they’re open or not until you show up. So make sure you have alternate plans. The hours posted on Google are often incorrect and the restaurant doesn’t seem interested in updating them. Even when you’re there during the times currently posted on their window, you might find a sign saying they are closed that day. It’s happened to us twice.

4.) They sell pies (dessert pies… apple, cherry, etc) only by the slice. She got stern with a guy when he wanted to buy two whole pies.

I really want to like them because their pizza really is that good. But you feel so put out when placing an order or working with her and all their odd quirks and rules. It’s weird. Sigh…

Love their food. We live nearby so we eat here often. Salads are perfect. One large salad feeds three of us. Everything is made fresh. The roasted vegetable pizza is my favorite. They close during late afternoon and open again in the evening so check hours before you go. Check out the fresh pies too.

Great pizza, soups, salads and pies! I have visited friends in the area for the last couple of years, and this is the one place I always go back to. I love their clam chowder, but everything I have tried is great. They have nice options for beer and wine too. They seem to get pretty busy, especially during dinner hours, but take out orders are pretty quick and if there is seating available, it is a cozy place to sit and eat as well.

We went for dinner and split a Caesar salad, eggplant & anchovy pizza, and slice of blueberry pie. The food was excellent – they don’t skimp on the anchovies and a side salad was plenty for two, as was the slice of pie with freshly whipped cream. Very reasonable prices and nice atmosphere.

This wonderful little restaurant never disappoints. Their soups are curated beautifully, their Pizza delicious and the pie for desert OMG heavenly. If you imbibe the wine selections are excellent.

Yes! It was all so good and fresh. Loved that there was an outdoor seating area, so we could have our pup by our side.

The restaurant is tucked in a side street, nice and shady for an afternoon lunch. Not much foot traffic, so my dog could sort of chill because less dogs were walking by, if that makes sense.

The food was perfect. We got the house salad and a cheese pizza with roasted garlic. They use whole milk cheese on the pizza which gave it a buttery taste, as well as some extra grease (some might blot off). The sauce was not over done. I do suggest you give the pizza about five minutes to cool before breaking in, it is served HOT from the oven

I wish I could have tried their fruit pies. I’ll need to the next time I come to the town.
