We had a church luncheon here, and I have never been. It’s definitely hiding away as location. In the corner, I would’ve never known it was their unless I was purposely going. Not a lot of people inside but sat all our group no problem. Ordered many meals, one waiter/ bar tender taking orders. My meal tasted good, I heard no complaints from anyone. I got a tuna melt with sweet potato fries. They had no problems tweaking the menu due to allergies or just wanted it a different way. Nice time

1st time at Hideaway. I’m from out of town, in area for 10 days,so just looking for a decent meal. Delightfully surprised. Ordered bowl of New England Clam Chowda & in my opinion outstanding – in fact best ever. Will be back just for their Chowda – crazy good. Had Fisherman Platter – bay scallops, classic, & flounder fried w rice & broccoli- all excellent. Kristin did great job as server – very attentive & busy. Dinner was very good portion was huge, not only scallops & clams next to flounder; but all over underneath it. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the high quality. Will be back.

I usually do not leave reviews but I went there family of 6 that was reserved. But our waiter was very unhelpful. Had to wait about 10 to 15 mins to get drink order. In the mean time another table came next to us and they had there waitress right away for there drinks. As we were still waiting for our order after getting drinks the waiter was nowhere to be found. So the waitress asked if we needed help and yes we said thank you we were not even sure who is waiting on us. Then she waited on us for almost the whole meal which we are very thankful for her customer service was awesome. After we were done the waiter showed out of nowhere with bill with no problem. We did not leave any tip to him for poor service. I would only return back if we had the same waitress from start to end. If the same waiter was there I would definitely leave.

We had a terrible experience here. The filet was a terrible chewy cut that was over cooked and had no seasoning. The burgers were completely bland and basically a small slab of unseasoned meat on too large a bun. When we complained about the steak we never even got an apology or any sign of real concern, none the less any comp for the horrible experience. $90 bill for 3 terrible meals. We will not be going back

It was slow in there, no customers, really, so the service shouldn’t have been slow. But it was. Food was meh as well. Such a shame. There’s not much in the area so they could be so much better. The bartender sat at the bar complaining of the next person coming in to some customers. Yet, people were waiting to order.

I had gotten mixed reviews regarding Hideaway but saw their brunch menu which seemed good and it’s hard to find a decent brunch in the area.

Odd experience, though by now reading reviews, not isolated incident. Went in around 4 pm. About 1/4 full bar. At most. No one sitting at any tables. No one greeted us. Waited a moment then went to the bar and asked about seating. After a “sit anywhere” response my family and I sat down at a table. And sat. And sat. No one ever came. As we were leaving we walked by the same bartender, who said nothing at all. Really uncomfortable, odd, unwelcoming place. Very odd indeed.

4 of us went to dinner on 2/4/2023. I have always loved the Hide Away….still miss the “harp”….yup that is how long I have been going. Long story short, 2 of our party of 4 became ill about 3 hrs after dinner. Those two had the same soup and a common element in their meals. I called Sunday just to let them know that the food should be double checked, that is all I wanted to pass along. Instead I got “no one else has registered a complaint” and we were packed. I was there and the folks you talked about had burgers not seafood. Don’t dismiss an issue about a food related illness, apologize….We will not be returning. If you had just said we will look into the quality and or storage I would have felt that you cared, guess you do not, and by the way the restaurant was far from packed. So disappointed in a restaurant that I really liked to go to.

First of all in today’s world it’s rather inexpensive. There were three of us and we all had full meals and two of us had two drinks apiece and our total bill came to $93 which nowadays I think is reasonable. That also included a salad. My wife asked to change one of the items on the menu and instead of shrimp and scallops wanted sausage with broccoli mushrooms garlic and oil over pasta and it was superb. I had it for lunch the next day so the portion was large. I had one of their old dishes called Ocean roar. It was not quite like I remembered it may be a little bit too sweet but overall very good. Service was great and it’s definitely a great place to go to for a really reasonable price. It has been a staple for a long time in old Lyme
