Really great family owned and operated BBQ joint—seriously! CJ is working in the kitchen, bringing his grandpa’s recipes to life. He’s even got a burger named after him on the menu!
Seriously good food (I had the chopped pork, with their house made dry rub and BBQ sauce, corn on the cob, and fried okra.) Delicious, meat was smokey and moist. Sides hit the spot. Small plate was a great portion size, and reasonably priced!
Dining room felt like going to my grandma’s—homey. Definitely recommend stopping in. It’s near the shuttle stop, and if you’re visiting, the family is super friendly and offers great local recommendations.

Our family-of-3 agreed to try Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que for dinner as part of our overnight stay at an East Ridge hotel, and we were all very pleased with our dining choice. Thecrestaurant is a small building with a simply furnished inside dining area & a front porch with seating & a wrap-around drive-thru lane. We were greeted very cordially by the owner Jason as soon as we entered, and he was friendly & attentive as our table server. Two of us ordered the BBQ Pork Sandwich (green beans & tater tots as sides), while our 3rd diner had the Chopped Pork Plate (baked beans, corn on the cob) plus an order of Onion Rings for our group. All of our food was perfectly prepared & delicious, and our housemade lemonades & a fruit-flavored beer were all refreshing. We would definitely return to Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que if we were visiting or passing through Chattanooga again.

The BBQ Beef was delicious and moist. The hickory smoked flavor was very evident. I also had coleslaw, baked beans and potatoe salad, all of which were good, especially the potato salad. The owner was very friendly. I will definitely go back.

Such a hidden gem! Delicious food, awesome service, nice and cool inside. It’s hard to find good barbeque, baked beans and coleslaw but baby let me tell you, they are amazing! I got the chicken barbeque baked potato and it also came with 2 sides. The food is very affordable too! A friend suggested we go there and I’m afraid he started something ☝ . I only got a picture of the appetizers because we inhaled the main course. My husband said the ribs have a good smoked flavor not too heavy on the seasonings.

Hickory Pit was always one of my son’s favorite places to get a burger. I love their fried mushrooms, and they are back in supply after a long absence! It is family run by good, friendly people. The dining room is very small, with only room for 5 families. So, try to come outside of main meal times. I had the CJ burger with fried mushrooms this time. Excellent and filling!

If I could give less than One star I would. The girl in the back kitchen was condescending and rude. The food took almost 30 minutes to get in the drive thru . I could have over looked the rude girl and long wait if the food was good. Unfortunately for me and my family it wasn’t my granddaughter $5 cheese burger was a dry bun with cheese not even the ketchup we requested. Mine and my daughters killer potato plates were horrible the potatoes had burned bottoms barely no butter or sour cream the potato salad was equal to Walmart store bought was not homemade. The coleslaw was not good either I have never eaten ground up coleslaw. The catfish was mushy overall I do not recommend and that was the waste of $50 since no one in my family finished their dinner.

After driving 6 hours to a nearby hotel, I wanted to walk here. The stew is excellent and could be a meal instead of just an appetizer and recommend getting the coleslaw on the pork sandwich. Hope it doesn’t rain on my return walk back to the hotel. Very friendly.

Been die hard searching for good bbq in Chattanooga for months since I’ve moved into the area and took a gamble trying yet another bbq joint. I have to say I was no where near disappointed in anything I had. 10/10 recommend. Flavor filled bbq with flavor filled fried okra to go with it. Food was just amazing! And the staff? Just as amazing very kind structured polite people which is hard to find in any establishment. Yall go get you some banging bbq!!

Food DELICIOUS. We got the pork chopped and ribs. The patato salad was not the best but I’m not a fan. It is in a small location but cozy. Once again DELICIOUS. Need to come and try it portion size was worth every penny.
