I visited Mikes BBQ restaurant in Cypress. Ca on March 1, 2014 and noticed Mikes is under new ownership. The restaurant didn’t have the Hickory and Oak smell the restaurant always had. The RIBS were not BBQ’ed in the commercial BBQ Pit the two previous owners prepared their meat in. Ribs tasted like they were cooked in a oven the sauce was watery, but it did have a hint of BBQ flavor. RIBS were older fatter and tough, the links were rubbery.I have dinned at Mikes for over ten years when I wanted real down home BBQ. I will never return.

I have been going to Mike’s for years. The quality was off when the married couple purchased it although I would still travel from HB to eat here. Went in the other day and noticed they changed their name and ownership. I assume the lady behind the counter was the new owner. I asked her if it was the same quality as the previous owners and she said it was better. I decided to give it a try. Bad idea! I only wish I would have dined in instead of taking out. I would have demanded a refund. I had one bite of the sandwich I had been getting for years and could not finish it. On top of all of this the lady behind the counter was not friendly at all. No eye contact or even a thank you. Say goodbye to a once great hole in the wall BBQ place. Will not be coming back..

New ownership. The Cole slaw was pulled out of a bag n oil was added then served to us. The pulled pork sandwich used to my fav. This time it was gross. The pork still had the shape of the microwave bowl with the BBQ added on top rather than mixed in. Overall food: F Presentation: B+ service: F. Some menu items not available.

being born and raised in Texas I know good BBQ. From the first time I ever stepped foot into Mike’s BBQ (then Jay-Bee’s BBQ) it is the best BBQ in Orange County. I lived in CA for almost a decade…I am now back in Texas and still miss Mike (very kind, sincere man) and his BBQ!

All the food are made and freezer it. Once customer order they are just microwave the food and serve to customer. after customer ate the employee bring the left over food inside the kitchen and if the dish still look clean they will not rinse the dishes without washing it with soap. After my friend kid work there told us about this restaurant we wouldnt want to support a dirty and dont have fresh food for customer. I Would give 0 star if i could.
