Very subtle flavorings but definitely tasted like they should. Beef was a bit spicy but wings were not. Ginger chicken was very good in the avocado salad.
Service was great too. Prompt but not obtrusive and on top of things.
Recommend this little spot.
The atmosphere is calm, and cool with a great background Playlist. I was seated near the bar, not too far from the kitchen. My waiter was just excellent – friendly, knowledgeable and professional – know the menu and made great recommendations. I had the chicken Bae Buns, and the lamb meatballs. Delicious, plentiful, way too much for one, but made great leftovers. Bartender was great too – excellent drink, and took the time to say “hi”.
I’ll be back – enjoy!
Hi★Hat Social is exactly what downtown Springfield needs. The decor is incredibly cool with a mid century modern meets vinyl lounge vibe, complete with retro light fixtures, disco balls, and a stunning mural of a saxophonist that sets a great mood.
Even though the place was packed, we were able to snag seats at the bar immediately, though there would have been a 15 minute wait if we had wanted a table. We were greeted right away by Eli and Justin, who were both awesome and attentive. Even the food runner was exceptionally nice and personable.
The bar program is top tier. I had a fantastic drink with smoked rye and walnut bitters that was perfectly balanced, and we also tried The Cat’s Meow which was a standout choice.
We sampled a few small plates and everything was high quality. The Haricot Verts and the Chicken Bao Buns were phenomenal. They had run out of wings by the time we ordered later in the evening, but there was plenty of deliciousness left on the menu to choose from. The atmosphere, service, and flavors are all on point and we cannot wait to go back!
The place is mostly a bar, which I would expect being so close to college campus but the restaurant and food that matches the vibe is also top notch. Bao Buns, Ottonomiyaki, Wings… Too bad we were driving so no cocktails. Service was 2nd to none.
And next time I’m getting Shrimp and Grits
Would absolutely recommend to anyone living here or if you have company from out of town. We’re lucky to have such a neat gem here in our little town.
