1. Stir Fried Flat Noodles with Mixed Vegetables
This dish was undoubtedly the highlight of my meal.
– Texture: The noodles were delightfully chewy and not overly oily, making each bite enjoyable.
– Portion Size: However, I found the portion size to be smaller than expected.
– Price: Priced at HKD 78, it was a bit steep for the amount served, but the taste compensated for it.
2. Som Tum Thai
The second dish I tried was Som Tum Thai, which was quite appealing.
– Papaya Texture: The green papaya was finely sliced and providing a refreshing crunch that I found superior to other restaurants where the slices tend to be thicker.
– Dressing: Unfortunately, the dressing was a letdown. It felt insufficient to fully enjoy the salad.
– Price: This dish was priced at HKD 68 and while I appreciated the quality of ingredients, the lack of sauce made it less satisfying towards the end.
3. Stir Fried Rice with Pork Neck
I also ordered the stir fried rice with pork neck, which was a disappointment.
– Portion Size: The portion was small and the rice was overcooked which give it a dark and smoky flavor that didn’t sit well with me.
– Presentation: The presentation felt rushed, with the rice not centered on the plate and affecting its visual appeal.
– Price: Priced at HKD 88, I expected much better quality.
4. Spring Rolls
– Quantity: There were six pieces for HKD 68.
– Quality: However, they were quite average and didn’t stand out.
5. Red Curry with Beef Served with Rice Noodles
– Taste and Texture: The red curry tasted more like diluted coconut milk. It lacks the robust flavor I anticipated. The beef was particularly tough and making it challenging to chew.
– Portion Size and Price: While it was priced at HKD 98, I felt the quality didn’t justify the cost, especially considering the small portion.
Overall, my experience at this Thai restaurant did not meet my expectations, especially given its strong social media presence. The dishes I tried had potential but ultimately fell short in terms of portion size and quality. One possible explanation for the restaurant’s high ratings might be the discounts offered to patrons who leave glowing reviews.
Here’s what’s not great: portions are small. Rice is undercooked. Most dishes lacked flavor – especially the tom yum, tasted like tomato water. Broccolinis tasted like mash.
What was ok: shrimp toast, drinks, and ambiance.
The food we ordered was not very outstanding. The boat noodles had a relatively mild broth, and the noodle texture was a little soaked through. The pad thai was pretty good, although the noodles themselves were nothing special either.
The thai milk tea and coffee severely disappointed us, with both drinks being watered down, lacking the supposed signature Thai taste.
Overall, not the greatest dining experience, but not especially bad either.
hainanese chicken has a “jelly” layer; would be better if the texture of chicken breast is more tender, now is acceptable tho
Thai Fish Cake w/ Salty Eggs
The egg yolks were not fully cooked and had a slightly jammy texture. The deep-fried fish cake was strongly flavored which would go perfectly with an ice cold beer.
Grilled Chicken Wing
Tender and pretty juicy. Crispy wing tip.
Premium Mixed Beef Boat Noodles
MVP of the night. Rich soup. Smooth noodles. Loaded with various beef toppings like beef slices, tendons, meat balls and slow-cooked beef cubes etc.
Stir-fried Rice w/ Mantis Shrimp
Nicely fried jasmine rice. Chewy and not too oily. The deep-fried garlic highlighted the taste of the dish.
As for the drinks, we picked Coconut Milk Coffee and Thai Milk Tea w/ Grass Jelly, which we could customize the level of sweetness and amount of ice.
The pot of the cold tea is ready on the table once you seat in , save the time and better than they pour you a glass of water in front of you.
All the food attached with the photos , it’s good to see how is your food ordering. As a trend , you prefer the food through QR code, so for me, it’s nothing can talk about the service is good or not, the food runner just place the food on the table that’s it.
The taste of the crab fried rice is a bit mild and not hot enough , but the crab is quite a lot , it’s still good , of course we can’t compare this one we eat it in Thailand.
The cuttlefish ball is okay, the whole squid is cold and tough, too chewy. The fried ho fan is cold, salty and the ho fan…. too messy
So far all the food is fair and not hot except the first serve cuttlefish fish ball ..
One highlight is the mango smoothie is excellent, no matter the taste, texture is perfectly, you also can choose your preference of the ice and sugar, and notice that the bar girl work in details for all single glass, good job .
The grill pan beef tenderloin was like chewing gum and was far too salty. The portion was small for even girls. We ordered 2 appetisers, 3 main courses and at the end, we didn’t feel like we’ve eaten much.
The atmosphere was no good too, as the conjoined tables allow no privacy.
The waiters are not willing to serve and turned their faces away when customers raised their hands. I’ve never seen another restaurant in Hong Kong which service is as poor as this one. Such a shame that we chose our reunion dinner here!
.
The restaurant is located inside Shatin’s New Town Plaza just above Yata Supermarket. There’s a lot to choose from when you order via the QR code (more than what’s on the printed menus)
.
We order Thai Basil minced Pork with rice, Chicken Pad Thai, Thai style raw prawns, Thai Chang soda with lime & a Logan drink
.
The dishes were phenomenally large for tea-set sizing and the logan drink had more logan meat than drink! My Pad Thai came with a big fried chicken maryland which was awesome and those raw prawns were sweet and fresh (& only 28HKD!)
.
Definitely worth a try, especially for tea set value!
