Requested chicken parm sandwich and got a chicken sandwich with a piece of tomato and moldy lettuce. Thankfully I had sauce and cheese to make my own dinner so I didn’t have to drive back as the owner refused to offer a refund for the said sandwich. Owner was very rude and said he’ll make note for another sandwich next time, there will be no next time.

I hate to give a one star review but I feel like it’s important to protect other customers from food poisoning.
I’ve been a longtime fan of this restaurant and have eaten here my entire life, but I have now had two experiences with the blue cheese that made me sick. The first time it looked discolored being a musty yellow color, and the second time there was a black growth in it. I brought it to the manager’s attention both times. The first time I called and they told me it was supposed to be yellow so I tried a little bit anyways and got sick. The second time he acknowledged that the blue cheese shouldn’t have a black growth in it but said he doesn’t know what *I* did to it after I brought it home. This felt incredibly dismissive when I went out of my way to return to the restaurant to show him in person after this has become a recurring issue. I’m not looking for compensation I just want to feel like I can confidently eat at my favorite restaurant without getting sick.
While they didn’t see an ongoing issue with their current stock, it seems like storage or rotation may be inconsistent. If you order dishes with blue cheese, check it carefully before eating. I hope the restaurant can address this, because I’d love to enjoy it safely again.

Place smelt like a bathroom & as if it hasn’t been properly cleaned in a decade, was hesitant when picking up food. Got home and halfway through my meal I noticed a piece of hair in my food. Threw it out immediately afterwards

I really want to continue love Hen House their chicken is still very delicious after it switched owner. But ever since then the portion is not acceptable. I ordered a 2 pieces dark chicken dinner, the size of the thigh is good but the drumstick is smaller than a chicken wing. The roll is even bigger than the drumstick. I also ordered rib with 2 pieces of dark meat not pictured. The size of the thigh is much smaller than the one in the pictured one.

Went down hill since new ownership. Ron kept that place tip top. This guys skimps on EVERYTHING. Small meatless breasts, for some reason he changed the batter. It’s soggy, not nearly as good. Don’t buy a successful business and then change it and ruin it.

Preparing my food with no gloves i asked him to put more foil because the food was falling out the plate he was upset because i wanted more foil on the plate …he even touch my bread with his bare hands i got home couldnt even eat the ribs the only thing o ate was the chicken …. i spent over 80 worrh of food had to throw away the chicken wings because they well under cookednand rubbery i am very dissapointed and thisnused to really be my favorite place to get food after getting my infusions at the hospital in the picture im posting u can clearly see he is not wearing gloves

First time. Came after reading other reviews. The place is clean and the people are nice but otherwise disappointed. We waited a full half hour for our food to be ready. The Philly cheese steak tasted like frozen steakums on a plain hard roll. Corn bread and coleslaw taste prepackaged. The ribs were gristle-y. The fried chicken was fine but no better than KFC. French fries also tasted like from a frozen package. For a place that boasts “only 5-star bbq in CT” I expected more hand crafted items. Bear’s bbq is leaps and bounds better than this place.

I got the 2 piece flounder meal, and I was just expecting a little better. It was frozen flounder, very thin, and way overcooked. My wife got clam strips, her favorite, and she said they were overcooked and rubbery. She ate a few and threw the rest away, and later got sick. The French fries were…French fries.
She called them to complain and they were rude on the phone, and had a “so what?” attitude about it, like they didn’t even care. So we won’t be going there again.

I do not give out 5 stars lightly. People go on here to see real life reviews from real people and this place is fantastic! All made fresh and freakin hot right out the fryer, this is hands down the best fried chicken sandwich I’ve had. Fries are amazing crispy freshly made, and coleslaw is really good as well I have absolutely no complaints. From the time I ordered to the time I was eating it was only 10mins if that. If you haven’t tried them I highly recommend it!

If I happen to be in Southington at luch at time I try to stop at the Hen House BBQ for a chicken sandwich. They are always good. The restaurant was sold three years ago and I detect not change in the food. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. I’ll be back.
