The nice: The establishment is remodeled beautifully. Unfortunately the FB page indicated a $13 sandwich but when I arrived I was informed that I couldn’t just order the sandwich but now it comes with a side for $16. I didn’t want a side (it was a to go order).
The payment: In advance of being served or trying our food, we are asked for payment, which includes a tipping option. We avoid restaurants where we are asked to tip in advance, especially when the server is standing there watching what we chose. Tipping is earned, not automatic. Yes there is an option to skip the tip but a nice restaurant, like this is, shouldn’t ask for payment/tip until after service and enjoying the food.
Recommendation: I told friends of the great sandwich but I also mentioned the expectation to tip for takeout or in advance of dining. They agreed and groaned as well about the advance tipping.
Summary: Amazing $13 sandwich. Beautiful establishment. I hate tipping blind.
Make your way to the NW corner to collect a menu from the counter. One side of the menu is all beverage options, while the other side has a few sandwiches, soups, flatbread, and appetizers. Only complaint would be to add more food options or a special of the day.
Seating is on both sides. High top tables, lounging couch, and chairs are on the East side, while tables and chairs are on the West side. This was overwhelming at first, but once we got the feel of the place we became more acquainted with where everything was, such as, the water and napkin station is kitty corner the counter, and the cold beverages are next to the ice cream/pick up counter.
For inquiring minds who want to know more about the cheese pizza cupcake – I did and so did another couple, you have the option of ordering 1 (“kids meal”) or 3 with the option of added sausage. I’d say about 3″ in diameter; it comes with a side of marinara and kettle chips. And, yes, it was tasty! However, the turkey bacon sandwich with cranberry bread was tasty, but was lacking a condiment (ranch dressing or mayo), which made it dry. With a dressing, it would have been delicious. I added the roasted rosemary potatoes for an extra $3, which didn’t get served until I was nearly finished eating. I love me some rosemary and potatoes, but I wasn’t loving these. Dry, and way too much potato flavor with barely rosemary flavor. Had there been butter, it may have been better.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a quick dine in while on the road whether it’s a sandwich and pop, coffee and a cinnamon roll or ice cream on a waffle cone, this “fancy” bustling small-business-owned cafe may have something of your taste. Check it out and see for yourself.
The service as always been friendly and helpful. I highly recommend !!
