Heirloom Lodge was the first dinner of a girls off season weekend trip and it did not disappoint. Wine selection was great, service was hospitable and attentive, and all of the food we had was DELICIOUS. Gnocchi were light and fluffy pillows; chicken was tender and flavorful; and short ribs were rich in flavor. Atmosphere was a cozy rustic barn and the open kitchen always is a fun aspect of a restaurant. Getting to watch the team put together a delicious meal what looks like effortlessly is truly a testament to their skills.

Heirloom Lodge has a wonderful atmosphere — warm, charming, and exactly what you’d hope for from a place with that name. The space itself is the real draw here. Food and service were both average though; nothing that left a strong impression either way. With some improvement in the kitchen and front-of-house, this place could easily be a five-star experience.

If you like Applebees, this is not your place. We sat at the bar, enjoying the kitchen staff at work. The food is made fresh, not out of bottles or boxes or other packaging, and no additives.

We had a hard time deciding what to order– it all looked good– and eventually ordered escarole, candied carrots, the burger (not written in the menu), and fettuccini. The pasta was freshly made and tossed with pepper salt and mushrooms like a carbonara. The burger was served on a biscuit with prepared onion, no ketchup necessary. We had gouda and strawberry shortcake for dessert. I like desserts that aren’t too sweet, and the shortcake certainly was not; a little more sugar would have been better though.

Everything was delicious, with a balance of flavors and mouthfeels. Our bottle of water was never empty. The menu was enticing and different. Many restaurants have same-old options. These dishes were creative, like coming home from the farmers market and preparing a home-cooked meal with whatever was at the market. It was a lot like how we cook and eat at home.

The room does have a lot of hard surfaces, which makes it loud. Sound baffles could help, or adding some fabric like drapery. There’s a screened in porch and a chef’s bar where you can sit and watch the chef at work.

There are not a lot of restaurants that inspire us in the Berkshires, but we look forward to returning to Heirloom Lodge.

I love the exterior of the building and the interior – especially the large open kitchen layout where you can watch the action. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The soup I got was incredible and I got the chicken as my entrée. I liked the portion size but thought it was a bit plain. I also tried the gnocchi which I thought was plain. I definitely want to come here again and try other dishes next time.

Had a fabulous dining experience last night! Our server Julie was informative, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and we loved the ambiance as well. Besides the food in the photos, we had halibut and broccoli Raab. Beware the broccoli raab was spicy. We were delighted with everything about it. Also loved that the noise level was moderate. Can’t wait to come back with friends!

Our first dining experience at Heirloom. Perhaps one of the best in the Berkshires. Food, presentation, wine options are exceptional. Atmosphere relaxing. Love the open kitchen to invite guests into Heirloom’s “home”. Service very attentive with well trained staff. Owner visited our table to enhance a personalized experience. Fresh farm to table feel. Heirloom will be our go to place for Berkshire fine dining.

Some places just get it right. Heirloom Lodge is one of them.

Matt Straus originally of famed Heirloom Café in San Francisco has created something extraordinary here: food that celebrates local farms and young chefs, paired with the most insane wine list in the state (maybe the entire region). Jura, Rhône, Burgundy bottles from tiny, brilliant makers you rarely see outside Europe. Absolutely brilliant.

It’s soulful, smart, and deeply rooted in place. Heirloom Lodge isn’t just dinner — it’s a love letter to the Berkshires.

Absolutely worth the trip. Love sitting at the bar to watch the kitchen.

Since opening in May 2024, Heirloom Lodge has become our favorite spot in the Berkshires. My partner and I come almost every weekend—it’s the kind of place that just feels good to be in.

Driving up, the restaurant seems to appear out of nowhere, its modern farmhouse design standing out in the landscape. The property is beautifully landscaped, and the spacious gravel lot means we’ve never once had to stress about parking. Inside, the space is stunning—part of the building is an old structure stripped down to its wooden frame, which now adds warmth and character to the dining room. The newer addition, with its open kitchen, chef’s counter, and communal table, feels airy and modern, especially with the huge sliding glass doors that open onto the garden.

But what really makes Heirloom Lodge special is the people. Matt, the owner, is a fantastic human being, and he’s built a team that reflects his energy—talented cooks, a chill wait staff, and bus people who all contribute to the easygoing, welcoming vibe.

The little details set the tone right away, like the Marcona almonds and Castelvetrano olives that come with your apéritif (I don’t drink these days, so I get the kombucha on tap—highly recommend). The farm-to-table menu is thoughtfully put together, offering a prix-fixe option alongside an ever-changing selection of appetizers and entrées. The food is best described as rustic French / Italian—hearty but masterfully executed.

Some of our favorites? The steam oven-roasted chicken with caramelized onions and bread stuffing is pure comfort, and the gnocchi roasted with fennel sausage is the kind of dish you think about long after the meal. The bouillabaisse was a recent standout—unexpected and absolutely delicious.

There’s just something about this place—it’s welcoming, it’s warm, and it always leaves us looking forward to coming back. If you haven’t been yet, go. You’ll see what we mean.

Heirloom Lodge is a very special addition to the restaurants in lower berkshire county. The atmosphere is rustic and elegant as you sit in the Inn built in the 19th century that has been gutted revealing the original timbers. A modern, totally open kitchen has been added to the back of the building and lives seamlessly beside the old.
The food is exquisite with some amazing staples appearing again on the menu like the steelhead trout and other new offerings appear with the change of seasons.
And then there’s the wine selection. Matt, the owner who you will get to know as he makes his way around the guests, is all about the integrity of the food he serves and the wine he offers. My eyes have been opened to wines I’ve never tried before.
You won’t have a better meal anywhere and you will walk away feeling like you’ve had an adventure. Only wish I could get married again to have my wedding on the property. Heirloom Lodge is a treat to indulge in many times!

Went with my family last night and this is now my new favorite restaurant in the Berkshires. We come here in August for a month and this restaurant was never on our radar. Luckily a friend told us about it. The food was excellent, A. our server was the best, and the atmosphere was beautiful. It was not too loud so we were able to have a conversation without yelling. As a vegetarian I appreciated that there are a lot of options for me. My companions had the chicken and said that it was very moist and tender (melt in your mouth). I had the corn soup that was incredible, shockingly had no cream or sugar because it was both creamy and sweet. I loved the mushroom flatbread and the pluot salad. Everything was perfect.
