Pick your seats and enjoy the views of the river! We placed our orders promptly and the food was out in no time! We had the 1/2 ribs with the pulled chicken combo and the pulled pork combo. I asked to try all the sauces which were delicious but I highly recommend their Tennessee Vinegar sauce. The ribs were delicious and fall off the bone. The chicken and pulled pork we’re moist, smoky, and ultimately heavenly. The sides were all fresh and made to order. We had mac and cheese, french fries, hush puppies, and okra. All were scrumptious. If we weren’t stuffed we would’ve indulged in some dessert but we left happy and nourished.

It’s 5 miles off the beaten path, located right on the river. But well worth the drive.
I saw a customer eating ribs with a fork (very tender) and had to try them. My ribs were just as tender with a nice smoke flavor. I had the pulled pork as well–also top notch. The onion rings were excellent too–crisp, but not over cooked.
Open March-mid October and CASH ONLY establishment.

Food was excellent. Tried the the catfish appetizer which was good. Had the combo 1/2 ribs and chicken with mac n cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. Served piping hot. Awesome and reasonably priced. Drink choices are not great, would rather see bottles and cans. I chose water from a pitcher. Staff was super friendly and did a great job.

Of the beaten path, but well worth the effort. Only 5 miles of the Parkway seemed farther. There was a bit of a wait, sorry didn’t take pics of the food, I was starving! We will definitely be back for more!!

Beautiful spot by the Powell River. Very casual atmosphere. Menu is limited to the basic barbeque options, but the quality was good. Not open in the winter months. Don’t get discouraged by the long drive in. Next time we might see if we can combine the trip with some tubing on the river.

The bread had a ruined smell and taste. The tea was extremely sweet. Location? We were the only ones there at 4pm on a Saturday. People don’t like driving out of their way on a narrow road, sometimes only room for one vehicle.

Very bad service.

A guy with a beard was just smiling and scraping the grill, ignoring my “Excuse me…” 3 times. Was going to ask if there was a better way out of there. Very creepy.

Visit at your own risk.

Heavy’ s BBQ was closed but the creek was calling my name . Beautiful scenery it was so relaxing. Was a great day. Social distancing, staying safe and getting a lil sun.
I wasn’t thinking that when I parked there that I was trespassing but after a few people from Heavy’s asked me a couple of questions about getting permission to be there I realized that I guess I wasn’t supposed to be,but when I pleaded my case about how beautiful it was they were very understanding and let me stay and hang out ..Very nice day & people ✌️

Heavys is outstanding BBQ. The restaurant is down on the river. Great location, Thursday night is all you can eat ribs or catfish. We love it. Foodtruck is in town on Tuesday and has a limited menu for those who dont want to go down to the river.

Heavy’s is a unique experience well worth having, at least once. Once you travel down the long, into nowhere, Dogpatch like road to Heavy’s, you encounter an unpainted shack. If your definition of great barbecue is fall off the bone tender, that is what they are known for. As a former Barbecue King wannabe, I feel their ribs are overcooked and their sides are totally uninspired.
