Cheeseburgers are OVERRATED and OVERPRICED. Horrendous value for $8. Burger was thin and tasteless. Fries were good, with a good portion and tasty, a bit salty. Inside gets cold, poor heating. Very limited seating. Why the hype, I have no idea. Maybe because of the history. Thumbs down for the taste, quality and value.

If a slice of American cheese costs $0.66 on a hamburger, why does that same single slice cost $0.97 cents if I ask for it to be put on a double hamburger. I’ve asked about this at Greenville Ave and on Hillcrest, and the managers are so dense that they can’t seem to grasp the point. The food is good but the management is intellectually dishonest or challenged.

Delicious burger and chili cheese fries! We got lucky with a front row parking spot, but if we didn’t find that, we would have had to wander around for parking for a while. It’s a small indoor area, but they do have outdoor seating as well. The food was really good. The man who took our order was very patient and wanted to make sure he heard us properly and made our burgers exactly how we wanted. Definitely a good stop for a burger, but be patient for parking!

If you like bland food…avoid this place! They season everything from the burger patties to onion rings. Overall its good! Noting was over seasoned of spicy. The chili cheese fries use real cheese not fake nacho cheese. The buns use sesame seeds which are not my favorite but overall the burger was good. Not the best burger I have had but WAY above other places. Reasonably priced too! Small and not a lot of room to sit. They have outdoor seating. Will be coming back.

Really cool old school burger joint. Service is super friendly, food is great. Fries are excellent. Definitely recommend for a step away from the blah franchise restaurants that abound.

A classic Dallas burger spot with incredible fries!
Burger House near SMU is a quaint, no-frills burger joint that’s been around since the 1950s—and it definitely lives up to its reputation. The burger was solid and satisfying, but the real standout was the fries. They’re seasoned with a special blend that’s super tasty and totally addictive.
It’s a popular spot, especially with students and locals, so expect a bit of a wait and know that seating can be limited. Parking is also a challenge, but if you can snag a spot and are willing to be patient, it’s well worth the visit for a great bite of Dallas burger history.

Outstanding old school burger joint.
There’s a whole lot of options in the menu to satisfy any craving. Great chili, hotdogs and chili dogs.
The front of the business is facing a busy street, making it hard to get in and out of the limited parking.
Once inside tour greeted by lots of pictures of their guests.
The staff is welcoming and attentive.
Overall definitely recommend this joint.

Simple burgers and fries made the way you want with a unique house seasoning-consistent and really good every time we come. The chocolate malt is one of the best in Dallas. The vibes harken back to the 1950’s when it originally opened. The service is direct and efficient. The price is very reasonable.

Food is so good. I’m very picky when it comes to classic foods like burgers, hot dogs and chili cheese fries. However, these guys knocked it out of the park. Great service, amazing prices and even better food. Most definitely hit the spot for chili cheese fries. The large portion was unbelievable and made me regret getting a double cheeseburger to go with it.

Burger house has been around since 1951, and has earned every bit of its reputation. Not much has changed and not much has needed to because they still make a mean burger.
Pros:
– fast service
– good prices
– consistent quality
– good portions
– family owned and managed
Cons:
– run down and old dining area
– not a clean facility
– impatient staff
– limited indoor seating
Tips:
– this is not the best burger in Dallas, the nostalgia around this place keeps it open. Try rodeo goat if you want something in this price bracket with better ingredients and taste.
