Nondescript storefront (former grocery store?) but step inside and you are greeted with a spacious gift store with what appears to be smaller easy to carry gifts and local artistic offerings.
There is the breakfast/ lunch restaurant to the left and the evening steakhouse to the the right. The setting is softer lighting and warm wood and burgundy napkins. They have large area in the far back to accommodate lager parties .

We did order appetizers:
Fried onion
Mozzarella cheese
Jalapeno poppers
The littles had:
Spaghetti
Corn dogs
The olders:
Pork chop dinner
T-bone dinner
New York strip steak dinner with asparagus
Sirloin steak dinner
The salads were awesome and chilled crispy
Our server made sure we had plenty of refills
I would have got more pictures but everybody was really hungry and all I would have been able to show you was empty plates for the most part So even though some of our group felt that the food was so so amazingly enough they ate it all. So what does that tell you? Just saying…

This could have easily gone to 5 stars as the service was a rather friendly young lady and my only suggestion for her would be to introduce yourself.
The food tonight! I ordered a 9 9z filet MR, baked potato, steamed broccoli. I passed on the salad as the last one was not all that impressive. 1. The filet- dude!! Season the meat before grilling. A brush of olive oil, salt, and a little pepper go a long way in flavor. Mine was more rare than MR the flavor was more important here.
2. Baked potatoes- wrap them in foil potato wraps man. They stay moist and fluffy longer. Do this!
3. Steamed broccoli . Drain the water out of the bowl before you send it out. Again, a little seasoning would go a long way.
Make these small adjustments and you will get 5 stars

The food was great! Steak perfectly seasoned and cooked! The only thing was the table was sticky because it lacked a clear coat and the waitress could’ve had a little more enthusiasm. Will definitely go again!

Filet mignon was absolutely delicious, it was so good! Cheap compared to Ruth Criss and so much better. I will be so bold as to say better then Angus barn in Raleigh. The cinnamon butter was perfect and bread was Fluffy. The asparagus was saute to perfection. Creamy potato I will pass on next time. If your a Northerner his is real rustic vs. New trying to look rustic. I will be back with my son

First time here and it was great, the sweet tea was so delicious and the ranch dressing is top tier I had to take some to go. Food was hot and fresh only thing was my T-bone steak was a little tough but it was very tasty and seasoned very well. This is a dual restaurant. Once inside you are in a Cracker Barrel type store. Straight ahead is the cafeteria section which is very large. Just a few steps in there is a single door on the right which is the entry to the Hayley Bales steakhouse. It is a very rustic setting. I chose to order an 8 ounce ribeye with a side salad and stuffed potato and my usual sweet tea. The steak was very thin but was cooked just right and definitely tender and tasty. The side salad was pretty lackluster and the blue cheese dressing was thin and missing any chunks of cheese. The stuffed potato was absolutely amazing and I received a basket of warm bread which was good but no butter.. I enjoyed myself and the surroundings. However, my very young server would not take my payment at the table and directed me to the register in the store area.

First time there last night. The hostess wasn’t very pleasant as she took two menus, walked us to a table, then put the menus on the table and walked away. NO verbal at all.
Our waitress was a close second, no “Good evening ” or even a “Hi, how are you tonight?” Just, “What do you want to drink?” We both ordered a Pa-Pa Ribeye. My wife ordered Medium and mine Medium-Rare. Both had a good amount of fat/gristle understanding it’s a Ribeye but when I went to cut into the main part of the steak, it wiggled.
Now, we are at a STEAKHOUSE and my steak is UNDER cooked.
Great. Box it up, let’s go, I’ll finish it tomorrow on the grill.
My wife didn’t finish her steak either.

Tonight’s food and service was the worst I have ever had. Waited a hour on food after ordering restaurant was not busy at all. Blooming onion wasn’t fit to eat. Steaks came out dry has a bone and cooked hard ordered med well. Was told by waitress she didn’t know why the food was taking so long. 77 bucks for burnt steaks is ridiculous. Don’t have to worry about my business again

Disappointing night at Hayley Bales. Food came out cold. Sent it back and now my medium steak comes out very very charred, but cooked medium rare. Cucumbers and tomatoes on salad were dried out as though they were pre-made and sitting in walk-in cooler not covered. Saving grace of the evening was our waitress who was super.
And, they need to do something about their STICKY tables!

Excellent!! My mom got prime rib and I got a ribeye. With both got salad and stuffed potato. Everything was soooo good. Our steaks were perfect and really tasty. They make their own ranch and I always love this and it was really good on the salad. Highly recommend! We were passing through on the way back to Raleigh and it’s better than many places I’ve been to in Raleigh.
