Atmosphere lovely and popovers yummy. I usually like to come to my own conclusions and not judge by other customer reviews, but I find these complaints are valid. My daughter called to make a reservation and asked for a window seat. We were seated under a blowing AC, not near a window. I asked for a table change and after receiving no response, I moved us to another table; brought water glasses with us on my own. The baked haddock; $32, was a very small serving and not that fresh; had a fishy taste, and was overcooked. We will not be returning. Vegetarian options were, also, not available. Our waitress was pleasant, but they seemed to be short staffed, and service was suboptimal.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. The Caucasian older bartender refused to service me, even upon showing my ID.

Loved the view of water & seeing Boston in the distance!! Very charming place that you can feel the golden days that existed here many, many years ago… the service was good, the food was ok. The popovers were fun to get despite being a tad too eggy. We’d wanted the crab cakes & they didn’t have them- something ab they’d not found “quality” crab meat & so salmon was ordered in its place. Our steak was ok- nothing too special. The Clam Chowder wasn’t the best- chewy & fishy. The lobster was a bit chewy & fishy as well. The swordfish was delicious!! The presentation was top-notch. I think this place may be hit or miss, very cool vibe- almost feel you’ve entered into another era (very cool!). Lots of potential here. And really neat fact- Jennifer Lawrence filmed American Hustle here 🙂

I took my mother here for her birthday dinner and the service that day wasn’t too great. When we arrived and parked in the parking lot the valet guy told us we couldn’t park where we parked even though other cars parked next to us. He asked if we were eating there and we said yes, and he told us to park closer to the door. I’m not sure why it matters if I don’t choose to park next to the door or not. There were no signs or cones blocking the space I was in. His tone rubbed us the wrong way. Anyways. My mom has fond memories of going there with her family for big events when she was younger. When we arrived the hosts didn’t seem to friendly to us but we noticed they were friendlier to other people. It sucks when you don’t receive a warm welcome but other people do. We are here spending our money, too. We were seated next to the window with a beautiful view of Boston and the ocean. The windows were filthy and it was hard to see the view. Our waitress offered pop overs to the table near us but did not ask if we would like some. My mom was excited for the pop overs since they are a nostalgic memory for her. We asked for them and they did come fresh and delicious. Just unsure why she didn’t ask us as well. There has been a $10-15 increase on lobster so a large size stuffed lobster was $75. The lobster was over cooked and the meat was shedding and attaching to the shell. They only seem to fill water half way in the glass, and on a hot day we were very thirsty and the waitress did not come by frequently. We asked for iced tea and the iced tea tasted rancid for some reason. I ordered prime rib and it was unfortunately very fatty. $60 for a fatty prime rib and baked potato the waiter forgot the butter for and did not come back for about 10-15 mins. It seemed like she was more attentive to her one other table. If it were busy we would definitely understand as I work in the food industry as well, but it was dead in there. We did not bother to stay for dessert.

Can’t find the word to detail the atmosphere and dining experience here…. but it was like no other. I absolutely Love it! I was able to dine here twice during my travel nursing assignment in Melrose. I may request another assignment in Mass. close by to dine here again.

Beautiful view of Boston and the ocean. Tables were separated by at least 6 feet. Great sunset views. They serve popovers while you wait for your meal. It was my birthday so they put a candle in my dessert. Not too crowded. Good food.

Wow. Heed the warnings! There is a reason why such a beautiful restaurant on a breathtaking, seaside location is EMPTY on a gorgeous summer day in Swampscott. My elderly mother and I have never been treated so poorly and with such condescension in our lives. The waitstaff’s and management’s attitudes were so abhorrent and insulting that I want to forget the experience completely. I felt compelled to post this as to prevent others from enduring the same mistreatment. This restaurant has already wasted enough of my time, so I won’t even expound on the sub-mediocre food.
