Visited last minute after another finding out our planned destination closed. I was not disappointed. Food was phenomenal! The chicken sandwich was hardy, flavorful and fried to perfection Sri Lankan style. Must try. I should have known by how good the fries were. Top it of with a beverage by Cheshire brewery and our brunch was compete. Highly recommended

They close between 3 and 6 but were nice enough to prepare a chicken sandwich for me at around 5 p.m. There wasn’t much chicken in it . It was overcooked almost to the point of being burnt. The bun & condiments on it were good. It had potential but definitely not worth $14. The menu is limited, but they have some prepared food available.

Tam catered my daughter’s baby shower for 35. We had a Sicilian theme and he created a wonderful, delicious, unique menu which was fresh, wholesome and healthy. A tough combination at any event. He made us arancini, caponata, marinated grilled baby octopus, focaccia sliders, charcuterie and cheese boards, including breads, honey, fig jam, pickles, sunflower seeds, walnuts. I am sure I have forgotten something. There was plenty of food and my Sicilian son-in-law (who is a tough judge of Itallian food in the US) put his stamp of approval on it. Tam was a pleasure to work with and accommodating of dietary needs- gluten free, vegetarian, etc. I would trust him with any event!

This place makes amazing food. I live in Mt. Airy and was in Elkins Park running an errand last weekend, and found this spot online while searching for some lunch. The facade of the building is pretty unassuming, and this food stand is a real gem. We got the fried chicken sandwich and the grilled cheese, and both were really, really, really delicious. Honestly, some of the tastiest food I’ve had in awhile. We also bought some beef chili and some sausage to go, and those were great as well.

Chef Tam is a beyond welcome addition to downtown Elkins Park. His breakfast and lunch sandwiches are truly excellent, and the prepared food case is always stocked with thoughtfully prepared, extremely fresh and delicious food.

Go and eat here now! Haven Local is the real deal and Elkins Park is lucky to have this place. Chef Tam’s creations are so perfectly balanced with textures and unique flavors. This is top-notch fine dining in an accessible and casual neighborhood atmosphere. Chef Tam is also one of the nicest people you would ever meet, and he is so passionate and interested in talking about food, farming, cooking technique, cultural influence, etc. You will learn so much from talking with him and be able to develop a much deeper appreciation for his creations and for food in general (and I don’t say that lightly). I have been here with my family several times now and have gotten a variety of meals, and they have all been wonderful. The fried chicken sandwich is truly a perfect sandwich that you have never had anything like, but make sure you also try some other menu items because everything that Chef Tam does is wonderful, well thought out, interesting, and delicious. I would visit this place frequently if it were super expensive in center city with long wait times and difficult parking, but to have it in Elkins Park in this atmosphere is something to be truly grateful for.

What a gem! First time experience @ Haven Local and will certainly be back. Chef/proprietor could not have been more pleasant and the burger ranks at the top of any list — perfect brioche bun, caramelized onions and house sauce on flavor-filled locally-sourced wagu, matched with perfectly crisped fries…delicious. And all within an inviting family-friendly setting (with a neighboring brewery) on top of it all.
