A good pizza joint where the locals go. Pizza was tasty. Expect to hear the squeaky horn to help celebrate the birthdays. Lots of local sponsored team pictures and food awards earned by the restaurant as voted on by the locals which was cool to see.

We love HJ’s. Our grandsons had never experienced it. We were in Dubuque to visit the Museum and decided to go get pizza. The boys had just celebrated their birthdays, so I decided they needed the birthday sundae at Happy Joe’s. They were appropriately embarrassed but loved the ice cream.

I had to drive to Dubuque, 2 hours away from where I live. It was the closest place where I could find a part I needed for my vehicle. When looking at the map, I just saw this place nearby and I thought, I have got to try that! My name is Joe so I thought that’s cool. Then when I saw the pictures on the reviews, there’s something called the “Taco Joe”. I happen to work at Taco Bell and one of my nicknames is Taco Joe. I thought, no way! I need to go here if for no other reason than to get pictures to show my boss.

Happy Joe’s has always and will always have the Taco Pizza that wins all awards. They have never strayed from their original recipe. For that, they will be successful. I ordered it twice (along with other toppings on another pizza) twice in as many days. And, yes, it absolutely was worth it. The restaurant stays family friendly and has kept and old school feel which makes it special for me.

Friendly staff and very helpful at 11:15pm. Taco pizza was just as good as I remember from 40 years ago.

Came here for the first time for a birthday party. First off, this particular location looks like it came straight out of the 1950’s. Some like it, some don’t. I fall in the don’t category. Second, I couldn’t help but notice how inattentive the waitresses were. The hosts of the birthday party were constantly trying to get their attention and I thought that for a large party, you’d think they would be more attentive but whatever. Third, the pizza. I’ve heard mixed reviews about happy Joe’s. Some love it. Some think it’s trash. My opinion, it’s definitely not the best pizza I ever had but not the worst. Needless to say, I only had one slice.

Family road trip and we found this really cool pizza and ice cream parlor! The pizzas here are amazing and super unique- BLT, NACHO, TACO PIZZA… the vibe is old school dinner and vintage games. The ice cream specials are root bear floats and ice cream soda and they are delicious! If you are ever in the Dubuque area or driving by it, stop here. Don’t even think twice. Can’t wait to come back here! Thank you Happy Joe! May your legacy love on!

Interesting variety on pizza flavors. We enjoyed the BLT and Taco! Fun spot for children’s birthdays.

Cannot go wrong with Happy Joe’s. Great for parties and worth the cost. I love the Taco and Sausage but everything is pretty good. Super thin crust with a mountain of toppings. I always grab a slice when in town (they don’t sell by the slice but should!).

Happy Joe’s is always a must-do when we’re in the Dubuque area. It has remained consistent since my first visit 40+ years ago! If you have never been, the Taco Joe and Happy Joe’s Special (Canadian bacon and sauerkraut) are THE BEST!
