Recently published books “The Ten Best of Everything” and “Everybody Loves Ice Cream” both recognize Handel’s as one of the best ice creams in the world. Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is made fresh daily, one batch at a time, at each location, using products, equipment, methods and recipes exclusive only to Handel’s. WE NEVER SKIMP! Fistfuls of nuts, creamy caramel, deep dark chocolate, fresh fruits and fluffy marshmallows are blended into each batch as it is drawn from specially designed machines. It is this T.L.C. that has helped Handel’s continue its long tradition of excellence. We want to thank our customers who have helped us grow our reputation from coast to coast and from generation to generation.

However, do not let the long line deter you. It moves quickly and we had our ice cream in no time. I tried the dark cherry and the pineapple upside down cake, my wife got a couple other flavors, and our lactose-free friend had the pomegranate sorbet and the mango sorbet. All were excellent but the sorbet is what really surprised us. I would never choose that over ice cream, but the flavor of both was excellent and the smooth creaminess of the mango was surprising and a nice treat for a sorbet.
Their ice cream is all house-made, which makes a big difference. We always ask if a place makes their own and try to support places like this that are not buying from a mass factory producer.
I was coming back from San Pedro and it was hot out. A craving for ice cream came out of nowhere and Handel’s seemed like a great spot to get my fix. They have a lot of SoCal locations but until this visit I had heard of them but not stopped by.
I am glad I got the chance! They had a nice line the entire time I was there so folks definitely know they are legit and now I can count myself as one of them.
They have a ton of flavors but the graham central and black raspberry caught my eye. I was very happy with both but the graham central in particular was something I hadn’t seen before and it was so good. Next time I stop at a Handel’s I’ll probably grab it again even with their huge variety of flavors.
I made a huge mess of myself with this ice cream but no regrets at all. I had a bottle of water and I used half of it to rinse off. Lol.
