One of my absolute favorite restaurants in the area. Very friendly service with a great staff, and filling food options. They do an excellent job making gluten free food options. Sometimes they offer a set courses menu which can provide great value as well.

Refreshing to find a restaurant with a majority gluten free items. Food was good and worth visiting again to try something new. Went for a girls dinner and one of us is strictly gluten free, and enjoyed the southern fried chicken.
Our waiter Victor was so sweet!

Came in tonight for the very first time, and had the best experience. Thank you Mari!
As someone who is gluten sensitive, there were so many options it was actually hard to pick. Tasted like a comforting home cooked meal, but with restaurant quality you’re actually happy to pay for. Chocolate cake and lobster bisque were extra delicious. My boyfriend with no food sensitives, loved everything too.
Mari gave us great recommendations, and her service was perfect. I’ve been managing restaurants for over 13 years, and I wish I had a Mari. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you for such a special first visit.

We chose this restaurant because of the gluten free options. We were already off to a bad start with flies around our table, and then the complimentary bread basket came out with underbaked bread (raw in the middle) and cornbread muffin that had gotten wet in places. There’s a clear lack of care in every aspect of the experience. The server was bored and practically bowled our food at us. Our waters were not refilled at all throughout the night, although nearby tables were offered water. The manager was on the floor, and I thought he would talk to us but he did not. The “baked shrimp stuffed with crab” with the saffron rissoto was actually undercooked shrimp with clearly from-frozen crab cakes adjacent to them, for $32. Everything was underseasoned. It was edible, but overpriced for rushed food without finesse. I am making a note never to return here.

We were excited to try this restaurant given the great things we’ve heard about their gluten free options and food in general. Unfortunately, we never even made it to try the food as there are multiple handicapped parking spots but no way for a wheelchair user to get into the building. After searching through reviews and calling multiple times with no luck reaching anyone, I made a reservation online and mentioned our need for wheelchair accessibility. I got a notification that the reservation was accepted by the restaurant so assumed we were good to go. When we got there, we were told our options are a rather large staircase next to one of the handicapped spots or “just two steps” up to the side entrance. Even those two step aren’t doable for a power chair user. Hoping to be able to edit this review after trying to visit again eventually, if we can make it inside at that point.

Ate here twice on a recent family trip to Virginia! Once for Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun to have so many genuinely good gluten free options as someone with celiac disease. Wish we lived closer!

We, family of 4, came to try Hamrock’s brunch and it didn’t live up to our expectations. I’m almost 3 stars but trying to be nice. The interior of the restaurant is very outdated, at least the part where we were seated. The portions are adequate but definitely not large. The food quality is average, to put it nicely. $25 per person is not that high but in this case it’s enough. Bisque soup was OK, deserts were pretty good but the rest was nothing special. There are definitely better options out there. Free parking in the garage across the road. Some availability right next to the restaurant.

The only reason I didn’t give 1 star is because the lobster bisque was quite delicious, but unfortunately that was the only positive part of our experience at Hamrock’s.
The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired and the quality of the interiors do not match the menu or prices they’re charging. The tables felt like we were at a total dive, there were exposed screws and nails in the wall next to our table, and Scotch tape on the walls as well.
The service was incredibly slow, and we are not people who want a fast/rushed dinner but it was even too slow for us (we were there for a total of 2 hours on a Sunday night). Our waitress kept going only to the table next to us and never came to us, and finally after that table left she told us that was the owner so she had to make sure they were taken care of. Which…is just not something you need to tell a customer, no one should be made to feel like they are less important than someone else.
My husband’s duck was way overcooked but my crab cakes were fine. We were incredibly patient all night but the final straw came when they served our dessert. The ice cream on each of our plates was COMPLETELY melted. I have never been served something like that in my life. The waitress explained that the plates had just come out of the dishwasher so they were hot, which made the ice cream immediately melt. I simply could not believe we were served something like that, the desserts were essentially inedible. I told the waitress that in the future I’d recommend she take the plate back to the kitchen instead of serving that, and she said it was the last scoop of vanilla ice cream as if that made it okay. Like…then just nix it and don’t serve it!
To be served something like that at the end of a terrible meal with terrible service in a terrible environment — when you’re about to receive a bill well into the triple digits — is just insane. We had been really excited to try this restaurant but will absolutely not be returning.

Excellent food! Generous portions. So flavorful! Their reisling is perfect! Not too sweet, not too dry. Our waitress Beatrice was great, very friendly! The rest of the staff was friendly and helpful too.
Love that there’s a parking lot! Parking can be so difficult in this area. The restaurant itself was rustic and quaint. Very nice!
I definitely recommend making a reservation! I didn’t think we’d need one, but made one anyway, and was glad I did; the restaurant filled right up after we sat down at 6pm on a Sunday.
Try the lemoncello cake! It was so lemony, I only wish it was bigger! We got red wine braised short rib, Maine lobster, and a chicken saltimbocca off the specials menu. Absolutely delicious, all of it!

Food was exceptional. Truly outstanding. I eat out every day, worked in over 30 cities in 9 countries, so I don’t say this as a guy who goes out on restaurant week twice a year. Had 3 things, all were awesome. Favorite was a meatballs app in a coq o vin sauce. Really amazing. I’d go back just for that. Got a braised beef entree, excellent as well. The hat trick for excellence was brought home by the bread and awesome cinnamon butter. All this and inside a 170 year old historic house. I almost didn’t go as when I saw the name, I thought ‘Sports Bar’ and if course scoff at the idea of food in any of them being good (unless I am very drunk). Already looking forward to going back.
