Hama Hama gets top marks for the experience. This place is great and the atmosphere is super cool. It’s much bigger than I expected with tons of seating outside. You have to walk up to an outdoor counter to order your food and they give you menu with the table number on it and will bring the food out. They have a little shop where they sell wines, merchandise and more, including live crabs. They have a simple menu, which I thought was great and they sell wine and beer. It was really cold when we went, but I can imagine how this place is alive with nice weather. They did offer heaters, so you are somewhat warm when eating. They offer fresh oysters and we ordered half of the raw and half of the roasted. The kids ordered the grilled cheese sandwiches which were delicious. We also ordered the.seafood chowder which had a nice flavor. You can eat outside with views of the water and what appears to be a huge mound of oyster shells. We’ll have to go back in the summer and I imagine it would be even more amazing.

Amazing food and scenic view. Definitely grab a reservation for the best spots. Dog friendly and they even brought us a bowl of water and some treats. The grilled oysters were our favorites but everything is world class.

My husband and I have been coming to hamahama for decades and this is my first time since he passed. It has grown significantly and I appreciate the expansion of the menu. there is the food truck which offers the chowder and fried stuff
but also restaurant style options for the oysters and the clams and the salad is particular appreciated. Eat outside on picnic table. Lap rugs provided.

This time I got the purple savory clams with a sake/miso broth. Basic comes with a couple slices of baguettes that makes you wish for more and I’m really truly fond of the sensational broth. I had over 15 medium size clams with some radish and green onion slices

It was spectacular, almost winter solstice so at 3:30 this son is behind the mountains already and the gas lamps are on at the tables. There’s a whole lot more A-frames here than last time and the kids are loving to be able to get into the little boat and climb around and play on top of the oysters shells. A great family outing. Much appreciated for a holiday getaway. Worth the side trip from Port Townsend to Everett. Normally I take the Mukilteo ferry but today I decided to go through Olympia. Nearly couple hundred miles detour. Worth it

Absolutely incredible! Service was warm and friendly. The atmosphere was serene, with covered picnic tables hosting gas heat lanterns to keep the November chill away. We ordered a half dozen raw and roasted oysters, the crab cake, and seafood chowder. Everything was superb, but the roasted oysters were a favourite — they had incredible flavour with the perfect hint of spice.

Can’t wait to come back here!

What an awesome establishment! Oysters were fresh and delicious. The highlight for us were roasted oysters on half shell, soooo good! We managed to book an A-frame table but turned out that walk-ins are also very possible. The service was quick and friendly. Worth the 2hr drive from Seattle. Definitely coming back!

Was in town for a wedding and everyone said to come here. We were so glad we did. The oysters were fresh and delicious with a few different varieties to try. The hama hama were the smaller of the ones we tried.

This place gets super busy so book in advance.

They are all outside tables but they have gas heaters at all the tables. Though in bad weather you probably want one of the huts they have as opposed to the tents.

The service is pretty basic. They bring out your food and the rest is up to you. They bring the food out pretty quickly too.

It’s on the pricey side but well worth it for the freshness of the food and the delicious flavor.
Was well worth checking out, we almost went twice it was that good.

Hama Hama Oyster Saloon – Good Once, But Not Worth Returning

Hama Hama Oyster Saloon was decent overall, but I wouldn’t return due to the steep prices that didn’t quite match the quality or portion size of the food. Don’t get me wrong—the fries from the food truck were fantastic, perfectly crispy and golden—but at over $20 for a small portion, it felt far overpriced for what you got.

The whole experience had more of a tourist-trap feel, especially since the food truck menu items were all $20+ and the portions were modest. If you’re just here for oysters, clams, or crabs, you might enjoy it for the novelty, but it’s not the best value. We tried the “U-shuck” oysters—$24 for a dozen small oysters that we had to shuck ourselves. Honestly, we’ve caught oysters far larger than these, so the size was underwhelming.

Our visit was on a Saturday with a group of eight, so the wait for a table was about an hour and a half. That long wait may have been due to our group size, but it’s worth noting if you’re planning a weekend visit. We stuck to the food truck and oyster station, so I can’t comment on the main table-service menu.

On the plus side, there’s a small shop next door with some cute offerings, and I liked the brown-tinted seating—it gave the place some charm. The atmosphere was family-friendly with plenty of seating, and while service was minimal for the food truck area, it was fine for what it was.

I’m glad we visited once for the experience, but between the high prices, small portions, and long wait times, it’s not somewhere I’d return to at the same price point.

Probably the most interesting, beautiful and delicious place we have been in Washington. It was even a beautiful day on the water. We honestly bought everything. They have blankets but I would highly recommend bringing a blanket and jacket as it is on the water and it is fun to stay a while. There are cute a frame wooden structures to sit in and be dry with heaters.

I love oysters so finding this restaurant was a fantasy. We had Dungeness crab cakes, a dozen of shuck your own oysters and bourbon grilled oysters. Everything was delicious. We had our own little A-frame to eat under. 101 N from the Olympia area is the most beautiful drive.

We arrived at the Oyster Saloon just before they opened on a late February Saturday morning and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away without a reservation. During peak season, I imagine it might be a bit busier, but they make it easy for everyone to enjoy the experience. If a table isn’t immediately available, there’s a food truck and bar-style seating to accommodate guests. It’s also a welcoming spot for both dogs and kids, which adds to its relaxed, inclusive feel.

We ordered two dozen oysters, tomato soup, grilled cheese, and fish and chips — and every bite was delicious. Fresh, comforting, and perfectly prepared.

The true highlight, though, is the setting. Tables overlooking the water create a serene and beautiful ambiance that makes the entire meal feel unhurried and special. It’s the kind of place where you can simply sit back, savor the food, and soak in the view.
