but also restaurant style options for the oysters and the clams and the salad is particular appreciated. Eat outside on picnic table. Lap rugs provided.
This time I got the purple savory clams with a sake/miso broth. Basic comes with a couple slices of baguettes that makes you wish for more and I’m really truly fond of the sensational broth. I had over 15 medium size clams with some radish and green onion slices
It was spectacular, almost winter solstice so at 3:30 this son is behind the mountains already and the gas lamps are on at the tables. There’s a whole lot more A-frames here than last time and the kids are loving to be able to get into the little boat and climb around and play on top of the oysters shells. A great family outing. Much appreciated for a holiday getaway. Worth the side trip from Port Townsend to Everett. Normally I take the Mukilteo ferry but today I decided to go through Olympia. Nearly couple hundred miles detour. Worth it
Can’t wait to come back here!
This place gets super busy so book in advance.
They are all outside tables but they have gas heaters at all the tables. Though in bad weather you probably want one of the huts they have as opposed to the tents.
The service is pretty basic. They bring out your food and the rest is up to you. They bring the food out pretty quickly too.
It’s on the pricey side but well worth it for the freshness of the food and the delicious flavor.
Was well worth checking out, we almost went twice it was that good.
Hama Hama Oyster Saloon was decent overall, but I wouldn’t return due to the steep prices that didn’t quite match the quality or portion size of the food. Don’t get me wrong—the fries from the food truck were fantastic, perfectly crispy and golden—but at over $20 for a small portion, it felt far overpriced for what you got.
The whole experience had more of a tourist-trap feel, especially since the food truck menu items were all $20+ and the portions were modest. If you’re just here for oysters, clams, or crabs, you might enjoy it for the novelty, but it’s not the best value. We tried the “U-shuck” oysters—$24 for a dozen small oysters that we had to shuck ourselves. Honestly, we’ve caught oysters far larger than these, so the size was underwhelming.
Our visit was on a Saturday with a group of eight, so the wait for a table was about an hour and a half. That long wait may have been due to our group size, but it’s worth noting if you’re planning a weekend visit. We stuck to the food truck and oyster station, so I can’t comment on the main table-service menu.
On the plus side, there’s a small shop next door with some cute offerings, and I liked the brown-tinted seating—it gave the place some charm. The atmosphere was family-friendly with plenty of seating, and while service was minimal for the food truck area, it was fine for what it was.
I’m glad we visited once for the experience, but between the high prices, small portions, and long wait times, it’s not somewhere I’d return to at the same price point.
We ordered two dozen oysters, tomato soup, grilled cheese, and fish and chips — and every bite was delicious. Fresh, comforting, and perfectly prepared.
The true highlight, though, is the setting. Tables overlooking the water create a serene and beautiful ambiance that makes the entire meal feel unhurried and special. It’s the kind of place where you can simply sit back, savor the food, and soak in the view.
