Adam & Lana – The Crain’s
During a recent out-of-town trip, this spot was suggested to us. I was immediately drawn to its cozy, small-town vibe, especially with the sound of a live band welcoming us as we arrived. We pulled up, walked in, and were promptly seated for two. The place offers both indoor and outdoor dining options—we opted for outdoor this time, and it didn’t disappoint.
We ordered beers and strawberry margaritas to drink. The margaritas were tasty, though I’d have preferred the beer on tap rather than in bottles, but it was fine. For an appetizer, we went with fried pickles, which were delicious, though the accompanying ranch dip left something to be desired—perhaps a homemade specialty sauce would’ve elevated it.
For our entrees, we chose the cowboy ribeye (ordered medium rare) with okra and sautéed mushrooms, and the filet mignon (ordered medium well) with a side salad and baked sweet potato. The steaks were decent but missed the mark on cooking precision—both were overdone compared to what we requested—and could’ve used a bit more seasoning or char for flavor. The okra and mushrooms were highlights, cooked perfectly. The sweet potato, however, was a letdown; it arrived cold, so the butter wouldn’t even melt into it.
We were too full to try dessert. The waitress and hostess were fantastic—friendly and attentive. While the food alone wouldn’t prompt me to recommend this place, the charming small-town atmosphere and overall experience make it worth a visit. The steaks were just okay, but the vibe might win you over.

Extraordinary! If you want to step back in time just a bit and enjoy some wonderful food make sure to visit. The FULL rack of ribs plate is enormous. The bbq sauce is the best I have ever had… and I have had a whole bunch. Our server said nobody in the last 6 years has finished that dish. Needless to say, it still stands… I got through 2/3rds and had to stop. And, I can EAT! The sides are yummy comfort food. My wife had the salmon and was delighted with the flavor. The restaurant has expanded into the connecting building with an outdoor area that has a bar and live music

The steak and cobbler were very good. The table was still dirty when we were seated, but the waitress happily fixed that for us. We ordered mozzarella sticks and fried pickles and didn’t enjoy them very much. We did not like the ranch dressing. The atmosphere was fine except for the cleanliness.

What an excellent find! We were traveling through and knew we would be in Texas. Well, what do you eat in Texas but steak! I searched for more so of rustic hometown steak places and came upon this gem. We headed right there, and the place was already packed. Either way, we put our name on the list because it smelled delicious. I wish we knew about this place before we got so close and decided it was where we were going, or at least thought of making a reservation. When I say this place was busy, that is an understatement. We waited for going on 1 hour and 45 minutes. The poor servers and helpers were doing all they could to get everyone served and happy. I must say, I don’t wait that long to get a table, but I am not complaining about anything except my having to wait that long to taste that food. I don’t finish my meals. This meal, I was not going to leave that food uneaten. My husband and I both got the t-bone steak and finished them. We’d seen the cobbler and then got one of those too, Ala mode. Yum! If ever in the area again. We will make it back there.
P.S. We were the 301st TICKET for the day. Their entire POPULATION they told us is only @361. Tell me that doesn’t prove how amazing it is.

First, reservations are highly recommended for dinner. The walk-in wait was 30-45 minutes.
We were seated at a very nice table until my wife felt something very cold on her back. We looked up and she was under a AC vent that dripping water. Not only that, it had fuzzy stuff growing on the vent. NOT A GOOD START! We asked for a different table given the circumstances and they quickly moved us to a different table. Not under a AC vent.
Charlene greeted us with a warm smile and was quick to our needs. We ordered the riblets. They looked great but weren’t hot. They replaced them with hot ones. The riblets were really good and looked like normal ribs.
The main entrees came and all the hype about their steaks were spot on! Made to order and we’re perfect! Charlene was great during the whole evening. She gave us complete history of the restaurant and the family ties that made it the great place that is today.
The evening was going great until we used the restroom. For such a wonderful place with all the people they have in this restaurant, they need to have better restrooms than what they have. Single use restrooms inside the restaurant didn’t make any sense to me. Plus the fact there wasn’t any AC in these and no ventilation. What a bummer.
If it wasn’t for the restrooms and the general cleanliness of the facility, they would have gotten five stars.

We were up to the lake for the weekend and found this place on G**gle Maps. There are lots of good reviews, so we decided to try it. We were not disappointed. The T-bone covered the entire plate & was seasoned well. The Steak Fries and mushrooms complemented the steaks perfectly. Our server, Jessica was great and checked in on us regularly, but not overbearing. She helped make our dining experience memorable. We’ll be back again on our next visit. Cheers!

Steak was good, not great. Medium rare came out as expected. Meat was tough. Not prime. Cheese curds were good. Bleu cheese dressing on salad was highly acidic and unpleasant. Broccoli was overcooked. Baked potatoes were good. Toppings were a bit small and we had to ask for butter. Someone had built up my expectations so I may be a bit tough on them. I will try again but bring my own steak knife.

What amazing atmosphere, food and hospitality this place has! Best place we at all vacation long. The medium rare ribeye was cooked to perfection And if you dare order dessert, be prepared to pop your jeans button! Portions were HUGE! Will be our first stop when we visit next year.

Superb service and comfortable atmosphere. The cheese curds are fabulous. The ribeye & ribs were very good, but the NY strip was quite fatty. The bone-in pork chops were huge & very moist. The only disappointment was the steamed broccoli, which was tremendously overcooked, even mushy.
Very lovely dining experience.

My mom has been raving about this place since she bought a place in the area. I really enjoyed our visit as well! My steak & named potato were so good. She loved her crab legs. Even the bread and butter were super yummy. Service was awesome & everyone that touched our table was super sweet. Can’t wait to go back and try more items from their menu!
