We got to the restaurant at 11:30 am. Got seated quickly and the waitress came to get our drink order right away. Atmosphere is so peaceful. The restaurant sits on the bank of the river. The have an outside seat, which we choose to sit. My husband and I order the sea food platter and split it. It was more than enough for food for both of us. The food was excellent. Waitress was excellent! Thank you guys!!!!

Delicious. Cool setting. I’ve wanted to stop there for years but never had. Glad I finally did. Had the beer cheese soup, the pulled pork platter with greens, and fish and chips with sweet potato fries. All were excellent. Friendly service. Surprisingly affordable.

Absolutely loved this little place! It’s off the beaten path and has such a cool view of the nearby river! Hence the name lol. The food and service was awesome, we went twice during our trip to The Red, and would definitely go back! Thank you for a pleasant experience and great food!

While the ribs and fries were dried out and awful, the crab cake and sweet potato fries were just fine.
After the server brought the food to the table, we didn’t see her again until the check.

I had high expectations and stopped only because I finally passed this legendary place. First off it smelled like sewer when you first walk in, I assumed it was from recent flooding so I went on. I ordered a side salad and a beer cheese platter, b8th great. I ordered a half rack of ribs for my daughter, unfortunately they were so tough we couldn’t even cut them. She was off put by the texture and couldn’t eat them. I tried one and it was more like beef Jerky.
When the waitress came back I let her know the r8bs were too tough to eat but everything else was good. I also informed her I was there specifically to review the place and the beer cheese. When she brought the check the ribs were still on there so I told her they should have been removed. I then paid my check, left a more than generous tip and went to the parking lot to leave a review as I promised. I’d highly recommend trying this beer cheese from a retail vendor somewhere else. Pictures are for you to enjoy.

Loved the fish! My friend got the catfish and said it was probably the best they’d ever had. I had fried fish too and the coating was so good. The hushpuppies were fresh and not all dried out. The beer cheese was so good I had to buy some to take home. Our server Natalie, was outstanding!

We were there on a late Saturday afternoon, early dinner time. Cate was our server. We were a party of 8 to enjoy a birthday meal with our Mom! She’s 89!
Our starters were the fried Banana Peppers and a Halls beer cheesy platter. Both were very good. The peppers were freshly fried to an excellent crispy brown.
Our order was soon delivered. 7 of us ordered the Catfish plate with various sides. Original fried and blackened were both deemed as very good! The fried was crispy outside and tender and flaky inside. Our sides were baked potatoes, freshly baked to perfection, nicely seasoned greens, crispy fries and the broccoli was basically cooked from frozen (the only side that was a bit disappointing). All came with coleslaw which was about as good as it gets!! The other person in our party ordered a Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which was large and juicy.
We did not have room for any cake or dessert, this time but do definitely want to make another trip here! Cate was a very attentive and accurate server. We enjoyed our visit very much!

Hot Brown and Cheesecake were both amazing.
Service was adequate but they had their hands full. It was a very busy evening.

We would have been better off buying frozen entrees from Aldi. Disappointed and won’t be going back.

We had heard great things about Hall’s and the menu looked great so we made a reservation to sit by the river for my birthday. It was a weekend night at 6 and there were only 3 parties there, that should have been our first red flag. The tables by the river were already seated, despite our reservation, so we sat outside near the river. The staff was kind and the food looked nice but it was extremely disappointing.

We ordered the fried green tomatoes, the shrimp po boy, and the crab cakes. The fried green tomatoes had those “real” bacon bits on it and came with some vinaigrette or sauce that we were not told what it was.
The shrimp po boy came on a plain baguette with shredded lettuce, pickles, and 5 fried shrimp with the tails still on. There was no sauce on the sandwich but came with a side of cocktail sauce. It was so bland it’s difficult to even say it was bad. It just had no flavor. The shrimp by themselves just tasted like fried grease, like there was no shrimp. The best part of the meal was the sweet potato fries, which also clearly came from a frozen package.
The crab cakes were mush. They also clearly had been frozen patties and pan fried before being served because they were cold in the middle.

There was no care put into the meal and was incredibly overpriced for what we received. We also spent the remained of the night gassy and with upset stomachs because of all the grease flavor.

The atmosphere was fantastic, and the scenic drive along the way from Lexington was a highlight. Unfortunately, we missed the beautiful fall foliage. The food was quite pricey, and the taste was average. The shrimp and grits were the best part, thanks to the fried green tomatoes. The fish and chips were a bit dry because it was halibut, and the hot brown was a hot mess. We spent around $65, including tax and tip, on our lunch.
