After the server brought the food to the table, we didn’t see her again until the check.
When the waitress came back I let her know the r8bs were too tough to eat but everything else was good. I also informed her I was there specifically to review the place and the beer cheese. When she brought the check the ribs were still on there so I told her they should have been removed. I then paid my check, left a more than generous tip and went to the parking lot to leave a review as I promised. I’d highly recommend trying this beer cheese from a retail vendor somewhere else. Pictures are for you to enjoy.
Our starters were the fried Banana Peppers and a Halls beer cheesy platter. Both were very good. The peppers were freshly fried to an excellent crispy brown.
Our order was soon delivered. 7 of us ordered the Catfish plate with various sides. Original fried and blackened were both deemed as very good! The fried was crispy outside and tender and flaky inside. Our sides were baked potatoes, freshly baked to perfection, nicely seasoned greens, crispy fries and the broccoli was basically cooked from frozen (the only side that was a bit disappointing). All came with coleslaw which was about as good as it gets!! The other person in our party ordered a Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which was large and juicy.
We did not have room for any cake or dessert, this time but do definitely want to make another trip here! Cate was a very attentive and accurate server. We enjoyed our visit very much!
Service was adequate but they had their hands full. It was a very busy evening.
We had heard great things about Hall’s and the menu looked great so we made a reservation to sit by the river for my birthday. It was a weekend night at 6 and there were only 3 parties there, that should have been our first red flag. The tables by the river were already seated, despite our reservation, so we sat outside near the river. The staff was kind and the food looked nice but it was extremely disappointing.
We ordered the fried green tomatoes, the shrimp po boy, and the crab cakes. The fried green tomatoes had those “real” bacon bits on it and came with some vinaigrette or sauce that we were not told what it was.
The shrimp po boy came on a plain baguette with shredded lettuce, pickles, and 5 fried shrimp with the tails still on. There was no sauce on the sandwich but came with a side of cocktail sauce. It was so bland it’s difficult to even say it was bad. It just had no flavor. The shrimp by themselves just tasted like fried grease, like there was no shrimp. The best part of the meal was the sweet potato fries, which also clearly came from a frozen package.
The crab cakes were mush. They also clearly had been frozen patties and pan fried before being served because they were cold in the middle.
There was no care put into the meal and was incredibly overpriced for what we received. We also spent the remained of the night gassy and with upset stomachs because of all the grease flavor.
