Halls Chophouse has the BEST steaks in Nashville. My husband and I love a good steakhouse, and we think Halls is the best one we’ve tried here.

We ordered wet-aged ribeye and filet mignon, a lobster tail, shrimp, lobster mac and cheese, and sweet potato fries. Everything was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. All of the servers were extremely kind, and Matt, one of the managers, was a pleasure to chat with. His genuine service definitely enriched our experience.

Matt sent us home with sorbets to celebrate our recent marriage, and they were just as delightful as the main courses. This has become our go-to date night spot for special occasions. Thank you Halls for making our night so special!

First time at Nashville TN, the chophouse steak was amazing and the meat was well seasoned and massive portion; however the lobster mac & cheese is quite upsetting- didnt even tasted the lobster its flavour is quite similar to shrimp and grits. Overall the experience is good. Highly recommend it for a very special occasion as the meal could easily average to $100 pp.

Absolutely amazing filet mignon! Took a chance and a short walk from the hotel. Service was top notch and supper friendly. I made sure to save room for the whiskey bread pudding and it did not disappoint!

Stopped in for dinner last week. I ordered the 16oz wet-aged ribeye which was seasoned well. My co-workers had the 20oz dry-aged Kansas City Strip and the 6oz grass-fed filet. We had garlic spinach and the pepper jack creamed corn skillet for the table. The creamed corn is a must have.

Great steaks combined with awesome service. Can’t wait to go back.

We’ve been planning a dinner at Halls for months and finally had the opportunity to do so. It’s one of six U.S. locations of this regional chain and the only location outside South Carolina. They’ve gained a reputation as one of the best steakhouses in Nashville, even featuring the most expensive bottle of wine and the most expensive dish in town. Unfortunately, despite impeccable service and an elegant interior, the food did not live up to the hype! It wasn’t even close!

Now, have my visits to every one of the top 25 steakhouses in America jaded me? Has experiencing Michelin-starred restaurants and eating beef in at least 50 countries and all 50 states set a standard that few restaurants can measure up to? Maybe. But the more I reflect on this meal, the more I conclude that this is about Halls falling flat rather than my lofty standards. At least five steakhouses in Music City have sufficiently impressed me despite my vast experiences. And let’s just say when you drop $80 at Halls for a dry-aged ribeye steak cooked medium and it comes out chewy, even tough in places, burnt in spots and partially inedible, even someone with little steak-consuming experience would feel cheated. Any cut of beef that runs $5 per ounce or more should NEVER evoke the word inedible! And when the server asks you to cut into your steak to ensure that it’s cooked to your liking, but it takes a minute just to force a very sharp steak knife through the beef, that’s a major warning sign!!

The truffle butter is excellent and somewhat saved the disappointing steak, coming in a tremendous portion size. But the Hollandaise is very bland, seemingly butter and egg yolk without a hint of lemon nor spices. My parents were chefs, and they always stated that the quality of a restaurant’s Hollandaise is a good indication of the chef’s talent or lack thereof. And this was definitely lacking.

The scallops are surprisingly small. The calamari appetizer is good but lacks our favorite part, the deep-fried tentacles. The crab soup isn’t mind blowing but it’s definitely good enough. The salmon was shockingly dry. And the loaded baked potato was superb but probably needed more cheese. Although, the cheddar was noticeably of excellent quality. We dined with two chefs who are friends of ours, and they echoed their dissatisfaction.

Realistically, this was probably a three-star meal or just under. But when you’re paying over $400 for a party of four that drank little alcohol, and when other steakhouses in Nashville execute fine dining MUCH better, you feel like you just wasted your money. Hence, Halls deserves the two-star review.

The food and atmosphere were great! The steaks are a whole presentation. We had oysters on the half shell, shared a Caesar salad and the tomahawk steak along with my favorite mezcal tequila with ginger beer and my husband enjoyed a glass of wine. Top it off with a fantastic server!

If I could give a 6th star for service, I would. Our waiter Stephen was beyond amazing. There are two things that make a restaurant. Food and service. The food was great. Our waiter Stephen was exceptional.

I visited with a colleague from work while in town on business. Our experience was excellent. I ordered a New York strip steak for my meal, and we shared side dishes of loaded mashed potatoes & Brussel sprouts. We also shared the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Everything was cooked to perfection! Service was friendly and attentive. We walked from our hotel on Broadway and it was an easy walk. Typical higher-end steakhouse prices. We would certainly go back!

We enjoyed dinner and drinks at Halls Chophouse. Joey was behind the bar and he did a great job sharing information about the each drink of the Old Forester flight my husband had. He was very knowledgeable about the food and offered great recommendations. We enjoyed Joey’s service so much that we canceled our reservation in the dining room and stayed for dinner at the bar. Bone in filet, bison, and caramel cake were all good, too. I just forgot to take pictures of them.

The bartender at Halls Chophouse was great. The whole staff was wonderful. The shrimp appetizer and the oysters were tasty. I will definitely go back and sit at the bar for drinks and appetizers.
