Really awesome place to get fried chicken with just the right amount of heat to make your mouth water for more. Pair that succulent chicken with macaroni and cheese and some greens and your soul will jump out of your body and bear hug you while singing kumbaya!

Ordered the 4 drumstick special with 2 sides. The first drumstick wasn’t hot. The fries weren’t that great. They were ok at best. You could get 2 sides. I got a double order of fries. Should have just gotten Mac n cheese. The greens & baked beans have pork. Overall it was ok.

Their chicken is always piping hot & juicy, spicy but not hot. Some of the best fried chicken you’ll ever have. If you get a dessert, get the chocolate pie, warmed up with ice cream. You’ll thank me later!

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken in Fort Worth truly sets the bar for fried chicken perfection. Every piece is made fresh to order, arriving at your table piping hot and incredibly juicy. The crispiness is just right—golden and crunchy on the outside, while staying tender and flavorful inside. The distinctive seasoning blend adds a delicious, slightly spicy kick, elevating the chicken without overwhelming its natural flavors.

One thing to note: there isn’t a dedicated parking lot, but you’ll find both free and paid street parking available nearby, depending on the time of day. It’s worth planning ahead, but the food is absolutely worth it. For anyone craving the ultimate fried chicken experience, Gus’s in Fort Worth delivers every time!

Best chicken I’ve ever had. I’ve probably been 3 or 4 times in the last 2 weeks. The service is always impeccable. Staff is friendly and food gets to the table at a reasonable time, even when the restaurant is packed. It’s feels slightly expensive but really not bad at all considering they get everything right. Awesome place.

Beautiful
finally tried Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken and I can see why people rave about it. The chicken has that perfect crunchy crust with a little kick of spice, and the inside is juicy and flavorful …. definitely not bland fried chicken. The sides are solid too, especially the mac and cheese and potato salad…which feel like real comfort food.

This was the best fried chicken I’ve had in a long time. I had the breast and wing plate w/ greens/ mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and cooked just right. The mac & cheese is outstanding, (they do not skimp on the cheese). Most places overcook the greens but not here. I even splurged and had piece of the coconut pie which I highly recommend. The service was great and everyone was friendly. The food came in a reasonable amount of time and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun like a mom and pop place where folks can watch the football game on TV if they choose.

Was craving fried chicken and decided to try out Gus’s World Famous.
It’s a quaint place. Friendly greetings by staff.
Got seated and looked over the menu.

Decided to order some fried green tomatoes as an app. A 3 piece dark meat combo, and their wing special.

First note. There is a $0.50 charge for switching sides… not even some premium side, just any other sides besides baked beans and slaw.
So rather than order a la carte sides, we made some changes. Ordered mac and potato salad. Since I ordered wings, I wanted a side of ranch. Sauces do not come with the meal. They are $0.55 ea.

We got our app. The batter was very tasty and even though i dont think tomatoes are necessarily in season. These tomatoes were soft and goopy. Bit into one and it felt like a hot booger in my mouth. I stopped after that. The tomatoes were way too ripe had an awful texture. But the batter was good.

When we got our main dishes, the wings were stone cold. Not even warm, just room temp sat in some bin wings. I did however get an extra wing, but that doesn’t really make a difference as they were all still cold.
The batter on the wings was tasty but overly salty. The mac and cheese had good flavor, but was also cold. They sprinkled some shredded cheese that didn’t even melt. The potato salad was probably the best tasting thing we ate.

The chicken thighs were cooked fresh (thankfully) but we did get fairly small pieces. For the price that we paid, it’s a little underwhelming. The batter again was flavorful but overly salty.
The baked beans were very basic. Tasted like canned Heinz beans and the slaw while fresh, was lacking flavor. Just very bland and missing something, (added pepper, didn’t help)

Overall, it was a pretty mediocre experience (food wise). Food isn’t even close to something that could be considered World Famous. It’s was fair, at best. After this experience, there isn’t anything that would draw me back to visit. Wish I would’ve come in their hey day.

Update… Unfortunately, I didn’t find out until yesterday that the order I picked up for someone was else was really bad. In passing, I saw the wings were small and dark. I assumed it may have been barbecue sauce, and they didn’tsay anything to me at the time. I was informed that they were cooked that dark. How someone could serve that chicken to someone is beyond me. They said the sides and pie were good.

This is a famous downtown chicken place and it was my first time there. What I didn’t know is that all the chicken is spicy which I normally never do. But I removed the skin and it was very good. The sides were good as well. Finding street parking was challenging and someone had already gotten a table so I can tell about wait times. Our waiter was very good and funny and there’s a diner atmosphere. But since I don’t do spicy food I will not be back.
